Coming off of a momentous 2013 including performances alongside some of his idols and an appearance on GDD’s Wide Awake Art Car at EDC Las Vegas, SURF AMBASSADOR HENDO enters the new year with a renewed vigor and refined vision for his career. In this mix, he brings us a diverse selection of new, old, and unreleased sun-soaked grooves that bring the heat. Check out the outstanding mix below, but before you jump in, here’s an important message from the man himself…
“As 2014 begins to unfold, I’ve decided to simplify a bit. I will be DJ-ing under the name Hendo come this Spring. This exclusive GDD™ Guest Mix is one of the last mixtapes I will do under the name Surf Ambassador Hendo. With a few songs in the works, some great future lineups, and a fresh twist on my mixing style, I’m really looking forward to spreading The Froth this year as I’m only just getting started…”
Another Month, another Solé Bicycles fixtape mix, another reason to be excited on this Monday that is currently being ruled by the marine layer floating just over my house. But fear not, rain or shine, Zimmer has concocted the ideal ingredients to put some funk in your phalanges and keep your mood sunny no matter what the weatherman says. The first half of the tape consists of rarities & new jams residing in the disco territory as the tape progresses things and gets a bit more housey. Dig in & vibe on, this one feels very good.

Pompeya, probably our favorite thing coming out of Russia since vodka, just released quite the single entitled “Power.” The single is jaw-dropping, and the collection of artists jumping onto remix duty is phenomenal, including the likes of: Mario Basanov, Lou Teti, Zimmer, & Lipelis. If thats not enough for you, there is a very limited run of 12” vinyls on Lou’s label, Tigers on a Leash, with hand-silkscreened art that can be bought HERE! Don’t sleep on this, you have the POWER!
Oy oy oy oy oy! Time for my first round of The Dirt and this time I am pairing up with my dear friend from down under, Andrew aka Ubbs from Stoney Roads. I’m sure you’re all aware of the Australian music blog so it’s truly our/my pleasure to have him on board to throw down some tracks for you lot. Feeling very, very UK with this one, be it with British producers or simply the UK vibe. Enjoy.
Between coming back home to Paris after a stay in Mexico and signing with Bond Music Group for bookings, the horizontal disco specialist, Zimmer, was kind enough to create this brand new Paris Plage Summer Tape. With flawless mixing and a tasteful tracklist, you’ll definitely be enjoying warmth and good vibes whether it’s sunny or not. Zimmer has earned the respect of many with his growing catalog of excellent productions as well as mixes, so I highly recommend that you check out this one below.
YOWSA. Our boy Zimmer really nailed it on this one. There are plenty of solid mixtapes floating around right now but Zimmer’s “Sage Paradis | May Tape” is TOP NOTCH. For anyone into slo-mo, deep, sexy disco + house, this mix is like a handbook of everything new & good over the last few months (along with some shiny hot-off-the-press gems). I mean seriously…Zimmer absolutely nailed this one. This mix is chock full of those “on repeat” tracks that you just can’t get enough of. ”Hémisphère” by Paradis? That’s in there. ”If You Only Knew” by Finnebassen? Yup, that’s in there, too. ”Running From” by Moon Boots? Yuh huh. How bout a Zimmer rework, two tracks by Auxiliary tha Masterfader, some Le Youth, new Flight Facilities and some brand new Poolside? Check, check, check, check and check.
When people talk about mixes with this style or vibe, they always seem to throw in phrases like “just in time for pool season” or “perfect for Summertime”. Well fuck all that: LISTEN TO THIS MIX ANYTIME, ANYWHERE. Daytime, nighttime, poolside, bedside – Zimmer’s horizontal disco mix will do you right.
If you are now a stranger to Zimmer, it will not be for long. The king of horizontal disco will soon be giving your girlfriend hard nips and make her hips move like the Caribbean Queen. His infectious beats are both soothing, yet funky, and are a breath of fresh air from the EDM norm. He is currently represented by North America’s premiere Disco label, Vitalic Noise, and has no plans of slowing down. I had a chance to kick it with him for a couple days and get the inside scoop on the future / past / and present of everything “Zimmer”. As an added bonus, he’s dropped off his newest mix tape and Horizontal Disco Remix Package which is incredibly amazing featuring the works of: Moullinex, Moon Boots, Broke One, Xinobi, Mercury, & Lou Teti.

“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
