This past WMC, we had Yuksek slated to play at two of our parties. We were devastated to learn that the Frenchman had to cancel all his WMC dates to illness, so we’re elated to announce that he will finally be performing on the red carpet at Bardot this Thursday in Miami. Supporting Yuksek will be UK bliss-pop sensation Chad Valley, who is set to release his debut album ‘Young Hunger’ on October 30th. Pre-sale tickets for the event are $12. After the release of Peter & The Magician‘s “Memory,” Pierre-Alexandre Busson is back at it under the Yuksek name. The Edge EP contains all of the great french disco flavor that we have come to expect from such a high-caliber artist. Ever since The Magician‘s fabled set at HARD Summer I had been scrounging the internet looking for the track he opened with. With no luck and a full years passing, I finally had the chance to ask him in person. His answer was better than i could have imagined, “Tomorrow.” This is the newest jam from Yuksek and Steven’s project, Peter & the Magician, entitled: “Memory.” Its out on Kitsune July 9th and packed with remixes by Pointdexter, NSFW, and Le Crayon. Nobody is having a bigger year than Mr. Stephen Fasano, aka The Magician. From the massive success of his monthly Magic Tapes series and his stellar list of remixes to his collaboration with Yuksek as Peter & The Magician and back around to his original production & busy touring schedule, The Magician has done it all in 2011. Gotta Dance Dirty™ recently had a chance to catch up with their favorite supernatural artiste and get a glimpse of what’s behind that mysterious cloud of smoke.
Please note: This interview was conducted right before Stephen suffered a freak accident at the hands of a deranged fan, so we were not able to ask him about the incident. But rest assured, after catching his set at HARD Haunted Mansion this weekend in LA, The Magician is fully recovered and at the top of his craft. He dropped a magnetic + memorable set that was surely one of the weekend’s finest.

• Little Dragon – Ritual Union (Tensnake Remix) [Beatport]
The Swedish band, Little Dragon, released the EP for ‘Ritual Union’ last week on Peacefrog Records, featuring touch-ups from Tensnake, Maya Jane Coles, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Tensnake turns the tempo down in this remix to create a really great track. Grab Little Dragon’s full length album on July 26th.

Today, 4/20, is considered by many to be their favorite national holiday. It’s such a revered holiday that it doesn’t even need a name. It’s simply referred to as 4/20. And what better way to honor this special day than with a song craftsman whose name means “high” in Turkish: Yuksek.
As you may have already read here, Yuksek’s 2011 is about to go OFF. Along with teaming up with The Magician for the super duo known as Peter & The Magician, Yuksek will also be releasing his “On A Train” EP complete with 3 brand new tracks + remixes by The Magician & Gucci Vump (Gucci Vump = The Shoes + Brodinski). Yet another mysterious yet magical mixtape by none other than The Magician. It’s kind of like the anticipation of Christmas combined with the allure of a disappearing act. This particular mix features exclusives from Steven himself including Yuksek – On a train (Magician Remix) and Peter & The Magician – Twist. Peter & The Magician is actually a collaboration EP project between Yuksek and Steven that we can expect to drop in June.
