This week Willy’s pick comes from the  the young princes of Jersey club music DJ Slink, DJ Rell and Nadus.

Willy says: ”There’s something about dudes who come from the bmore/philly/jersey club scene – they just know how to chop samples better and in a different way than anyone else. Here these guys take a classic Missy tune and throw it way into the future with insane chops and huge bass. I don’t always play a ton of stuff in this vein, but I’ll be playing this every set. Its just too good!”

This week Willy’s pick is from the unstoppable duo Gent & Jawns.

Willy says: “Every time Gent & Jawns drop a new tune its a huge gift for their fans and a huge kick in the ass for every other DJ breathing. They’re seriously on fire right now, and this might be their best song yet, “Turn Up” manages to take every familiar trope of the genre and turns it upside down. This sounds so fresh I’m doing the cooking dance as I type.”

This week Willy’s pick is from Atlanta heavyweight, Heroes X Villains.

He says: “I’ve always been a fan of Heroes X Villains but their new record took it all to another level. This is easily my favorite tune off the EP – a mix of beautiful melodies juxtaposed with hard rhythms and heavy synths isn’t a new idea, but the way they do it is totally original and makes me jealous, even down to the tuned snare fills. Love the way everything fits together here and its the coolest song i’ve heard in a while.”

Closing out 2012 with their signature heavy bass sound, Trouble & Bass released their first volume of Clash of the Damned today, and I can’t get enough. This 10 track compilation is filled with collabs from artists around the world repping London, Portugal, Estonia, Finland and the United States and showing us just how fresh dance music can be. Spanning genres like house, dubstep, club music and rap the whole compilation is dark and delicious, definitely on repeat today!
