After 8 years of keeping his artistry to himself, the legendary Paul Kalkbrenner has announced that he will be releasing a remix album featuring new renditions of tracks from his entire catalog. PK has called upon a select group of friends and esteemed peers to rework his productions, revealing GDD™ favorite, Vitalic‘s, remix for “Altes Kamuffel” today as the first of many forthcoming. What’s pretty neat about this release is that Paul wanted the remixers to choose the tracks that they personally wanted to work on, making for an even more exciting and passionate release. Check Vitalic’s remix below and keep an eye on Paul’s website for more info.
C2C is a four member deep french turntable group that has been around since ’98, winning everything from the World DJ Championships for Disco, to the European Border Breakers award in 2013 for best new European music act. With only one official album out in 2012, they have remained relatively quiet on the production front. This remix is for Vitalic’s “Fade Away” EP coming out on March 25th and it features their signature disco bounce and electro edge that creates a sublime environment to let loose and dance to. For those unfamiliar with this group, you might know them best from their track that’s being used on a Dr. Pepper ad running right now, or their name as featured on the Coachella lineup this year.
[PIAS] Recordings had humble beginnings. Founders Kenny Gates and Michael Lambot established [PIAS] as a distribution company in Brussels in 1982 before expanding that business into a record label of the same name. Years went by, and more and more music was released and distributed by the company, including an impressive and eclectic roster of talent — Soulwax, Grace Jones, Mr. Oizo, Dinosaur Jr., Royksopp, and many, many more.
To celebrate this milestone, [PIAS] will be giving away heaps of exclusive, unreleased, unheard content from their roster over the past 3 decades, and today, we’re happy to be a part of the celebration as we give away a new, exclusive remix from Frenchman, Vitalic.
As part of his 5 city US tour, Vitalic will be stopping by the El Rey Theatre on March 25th for a very special DJ Set. The French producer brings a unique emotional component to electronic music, which other artists are unable to reproduce. Flashmob, his most recent release in 2009, represents his interpretation of disco, as well as a transition away from early sounds. Vitalic’s music is full of robotic synthesizers, as he prefers to use a vocoder on most tracks, to create a sound which “achieve[s] something strange, between reality and synthetic.” Don’t miss out on one of the most influential artists in electronic music today.

I can’t even tell you how upset I am that I slept on Vitalic’s “Poison Lips”, a dark slice of swirling psychedelic disco that was released back in September. If you’re a fan of Midnight Juggernauts (like myself), don’t sleep on this one either! This is easily one of the best songs I’ve heard all year.
