TEE MANGO, aka Mr. Millionhands, the curator extraordinaire, is a man who exudes character. From his always in demand fashion line to his masterfully produced back catalogue, he’s an artist in pretty much every sense of the term. Which is why his debut LP stands out as one of the more carefully crafted vibes of 2016. With a mix of sounds ranging from house to electronica, the project spans a wide range of emotions in its entirety.
There are delicate late night progressive vibes a la “TUNNEL VISIONS” as well as some downtempo emotive house via “NIGHTSWIM.” For those who like their House a little bit funk’d up, look no further than “ENJOY WHAT WE HAVE” and “I SEE YOU DANCIN.” On the more experimental end of the spectrum there is the track “BREAK OF DAWN” with a smidge of breakbeat as well as the instrumental intermission titled “I CAN SEE STRAIGHT.”
It’s some all around good clean sexy fun for the freshmen LP of a producer whose releases date back to 2012. While his history in the scene makes him a veteran in his own right, it’s the subtle imperfections that allow this album to breathe amongst its contemporaries. Comfort zones are established and shattered as you move from track to track adding a respectable layer of intrigue as the LP plays cover to cover. Slated to be released on September 23rd on the Millionhands label, this is certainly not one to sleep on.
The Australian electronic outfit, The Avalanches, have had plenty of time to craft a follow up album to their critically acclaimed Freshmen LP, “Since I Left You.” With rumors circulating in the press dating back to 2011 regarding their Sophomore production, it’s about time some music is finally starting to surface. With members coming and going in the 16 years that have elapsed since their first crack at it, it’s peculiar to see the group transition to a more hip-hop oriented vibe after the overtly house oriented, “Since I Left You.” Check out the visual treatment for the MF DOOM and Danny Brown single, “Frankie Sinatra,” and peep the vinyl preview via XL Recordings below! The vinyl is available for pre-order ahead of it’s July 8th release HERE.
House music champion Jesse Rose has unleashed his first single of the year (after releasing a full length album + remix album back in February and March), and in true-to-form fashion its a very cheeky and catchy tune – this time an ode to the honorable French house scene. Out now on his label Play It Down, “Fly Tonight” is filter house in its unadulterated glory, its charm and melodies happily bonded with a stomping bassline and drums. The song, along with the super-filtered lyrics, are quite simple in their intent: let go and have fun.
“Fly Tonight” along with a dub version are available now on Beatport, everywhere digitally July 21, and on a very limited vinyl I’m sure you’re going to get your hands on if you’re an in-the-know collector of French house records. If you know, you know…
Future Classic is back at it, this time with Luke and Olly from Bodhi and the first track off their upcoming EP set to be released on Oct. 7th. The guys are currently on tour with Bondax, and you may have heard this rinsed if you’ve been able to catch one of the sparse and secretive shows. A vinyl pre-order form is available for those looking to stay ahead of the curve. Others, for now, will have to let the stream tide them over until a digital release becomes available from overseas.

Earlier this fall Jerome LOL set out on a West Coast tour with Classixx, Cosmic Kids, and RAC for some of the most infectious summer time music when everyone was having summer withdrawals. Classixx were a crowd favorite, and then “Holding On” surfaced late last month and the internet was abuzz with this summertime sensation. It would appear Jerome couldn’t get the song out of his head, along with everyone else who heard these endorphin packed vibes, as he set out to create this remix for them. It does a great job of building and resolving into the original chords as his minimalistic percussion patterns create a comfortable dance environment for you to get down to. Out digitally and 12″ on April 2nd on Leisure Recordings, be sure to make sure your spring playlists are as forward as they can be with this summer time anthem.
