Cheers to our man Viceroy for putting just the right touch on his edit of the 1983 Talking Heads classic “This Must Be The Place”. Beefing up a classic can be tricky business. But Viceroy gives this edit the proper modern retouch with redone drums, redone bassline, added percussion and two new instrument lines (one guitar and one synth). Viceroy gives new life to a classic tune & introduces it to a new audience with his chic + contemporary edit.
While Viceroy’s creed may be “Summertime, All The Time”, his latest remix of “Coming Home” by VISITOR seems to capture the essence of end of Summer/early Fall. It’s a synthpop symphony full of emotion filled lyrics, plucky beats and moody organs that isn’t so much feel good as it is just feel. It’s a dance pop anthem that will have friends & lovers weeping with emotion on the dancefloor as it soars above the crowd.
Lots of good tunes this Friday at CONTROL at the Avalon in Hollywood with a double-headlined night from Snatch! Records boss Riva Starr and the legendary Fred Falke. Supporting sets will come from our friends Viceroy, Anthony Ross, and Social Cues. Expect some French House, Nu Disco, and whatever the edgy Riva Starr feels like playing.

Viceroy continues his fantastic + fun filled “Jet Life” Series with his remix of Will Smith’s (no, really) 1998 classic “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”. It’s a song you could not escape at any given point during that year and it probably took about 5 years after that before you could even attempt to listen to it again. In fact, it certainly ranked up there with “Livin’ La Vida Loca” in the “If-I-Hear-That-Song-One-More-Time-I’m-Going-To-Punch-Someone-In-The-Face” category. But 14 years later, it’s become a party time classic and who better to give it new life and add even more Summertime flavor than our party boy Viceroy.
The party continues…
The homie Viceroy dropped his newest single today which features the vocals of indie songwriter Madi Diaz. It’s a tropical airy summer jam with classic disco elements and one hell of a sexy voice. This is the poppiest of his releases as he tries to pave new ground in the ‘pop’ music realm.
“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”

Alright alright alright…our main man Viceroy channels his inner Dazed and Confused with his remix of “Summer Life” by The Penelopes. It’s last-day-of-school-Summertime vibes as Viceroy pays homage to “Free Ride” by The Edgar Winter Group with some funky guitar-lickin’ dance vibes. Hop in your muscle car & head out to the woods: The Penelopes + Viceroy are hosting a “Beginning of Summer” kegger. NO FRESHMAN.
