We kick off this first week of november with a long awaited release from the phenom AMTRAC – his newest single EP ‘Those Days’ along with 3 successfully diverse remixes from Kreap, Drel, and the infamous summertime wizard Viceroy. Each take the haunting yet soulful vocals and provided awesome renditions of the disco house spirited track, but I still favor the original mix for its big piping bassline and club fitting house appeal.

CMJ rolled through town last weekend and we got a taste of almost everything the city-wide festival had to offer. However, one showcase in particular rose above the others in a party I soon won’t forget….
DCUP, australian ambassadors of themes heard all around the world, got the summertime treatment by SF’s own Viceroy, and its quite the match made in heaven. Lucky for us, Austen will be giving it away for free only for the cost of a ‘like’ on his Facebook page HERE. Get Tropo!
Cheers to our man Viceroy for putting just the right touch on his edit of the 1983 Talking Heads classic “This Must Be The Place”. Beefing up a classic can be tricky business. But Viceroy gives this edit the proper modern retouch with redone drums, redone bassline, added percussion and two new instrument lines (one guitar and one synth). Viceroy gives new life to a classic tune & introduces it to a new audience with his chic + contemporary edit.
Our favorite coconut water, Vitacoco, and Sultan of Summertime, Viceroy, have teamed up to bring you the Vita Tapes. A special mixtape series to keep you dancing all year long with a tropo state of mind while you stay fully hydrated!
While Viceroy’s creed may be “Summertime, All The Time”, his latest remix of “Coming Home” by VISITOR seems to capture the essence of end of Summer/early Fall. It’s a synthpop symphony full of emotion filled lyrics, plucky beats and moody organs that isn’t so much feel good as it is just feel. It’s a dance pop anthem that will have friends & lovers weeping with emotion on the dancefloor as it soars above the crowd.
Lots of good tunes this Friday at CONTROL at the Avalon in Hollywood with a double-headlined night from Snatch! Records boss Riva Starr and the legendary Fred Falke. Supporting sets will come from our friends Viceroy, Anthony Ross, and Social Cues. Expect some French House, Nu Disco, and whatever the edgy Riva Starr feels like playing.
Please email names to RSVP@gottadancedirty.com to be on our discount guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted by 530PM on Friday.
Viceroy continues his fantastic + fun filled “Jet Life” Series with his remix of Will Smith’s (no, really) 1998 classic “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”. It’s a song you could not escape at any given point during that year and it probably took about 5 years after that before you could even attempt to listen to it again. In fact, it certainly ranked up there with “Livin’ La Vida Loca” in the “If-I-Hear-That-Song-One-More-Time-I’m-Going-To-Punch-Someone-In-The-Face” category. But 14 years later, it’s become a party time classic and who better to give it new life and add even more Summertime flavor than our party boy Viceroy.
