AYE! AYE! AYYYYEEEE! This Thursday we will be celebrating cinco de mayo in the GDD fashion, bringing you yet another rockin VERSUS party at The Central in Santa Monica. This week, we have a real treat for you, as we host the Bang Gang Deejays tour with a special perfomance as their side project for Turbo Records, The Finger Prince. You should remember fawning over the Planet Turbo EP, and his remix of Boy 8-Bit’s ‘Yard Birds’… and if not, we have that for you below. On top of that, we also welcome Pasternak from Lemonade, all the way from NYC. If that doesn’t make you drop your chalupa then we’ll have you know that Danceism wild child Ben Oprstu will be laying down a set, along with Dub Frequency’s Bixel Boys and your one and only GDD groove-master A.Rod. Make sure you make it out early, because we have surprises planned for the beginning of the noche. Dirty Dancing contests? You bet. Free tequila shots? Let’s hope so. GDD stickers on your girlfriend? Count on it. ¡Vamanos!
If you are like me, you know that NT89 is HELL OF underrated. Respected on both Turbo and Southern Fried recordings, Nima Tahmasebi has produced some of the best hard house and techno remixes that are in full support by the likes of Crookers, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Laurent Garnier, Diplo, The Bloody Beetroots, Congorock, Shinichi Osawa, Brodinski and Style of Eye.
Just recently, he became part of the PIE artists management family, alongside Mumbai Science, Prince Club, Van Toth and Bareback DJs (just to name a few). We are excited for this addition to PIE artists because as they are also a Los Angeles based management, we will be seeing more of NT89 in our neck of the planet. I can’t say anymore right now, but expect more exciting acquisitions from PIE Artists. For now, grab some of his most recent releases below, including the unmasked ‘Arabesque’ remix that was long waiting to be identified, as well as his VIP remix of Babylon that he finally released to the public after requests were through the roof.
Just when you thought Turbo Recordings couldn’t make a more massive EP after Planet Turbo, the Tiga‘s label then goes and releases a ballroom breaker with Paris’ own Gesaffelstein. The EP Variationsboasts 5 original tracks, all celebrated and supported by the likes of Djedjotronic, Hey Today!, Digitalism, Simian Mobile Disco, Boys Noize, Tiga, and Erol Alkan (just to name a few). My favorite track on the EP is what you are about to embark on once you listen to this 9 minute journey through time, space, and techno. Brace yourselves my dirty dancers – this one gets weird.
If you’re usually oblivious to your surroundings (shoutout to Joelle) or just haven’t had your adderall prescription filled lately then you might not have heard about the forthcoming Bart B More remix of Dem Slackers’ new track ‘Let’s Go.’ Now, my friends, is the time for you to start paying attention. This upcoming EP set for release on September 20th off Boemklatsch Records is so insanely packed with goodies it is bursting at the seams like Buddy Love’s clothing when he turns back in to Professor Sherman Klump at the end of The Nutty Professor.
What is kind of surprising, albeit awesome, is that our good buddy Bart’s stabs at ‘Let’s Go’ are quite possibly second fiddle on the EP to two eighteen year old lads from Scotland. Rumor has it these kids worked at a McDonald’s before the likes of Fake Blood and Tiga started playing their track out. Boys and girls, meet Clouds. Recently signed to Turbo you should be hearing big, big things from them in the near future.
Can’t forget to mention that the fellas from PeaceTreaty (can these two do no wrong?) and Evil Nine bring outstanding efforts to the table as well.
