Out tomorrow, this double header of techno awesomeness is out of this world, literally. The “Astronauts” EP by up and coming Belgian duo Moore & Lezz is the most recent release from Tommie Sunshines‘ Brooklyn Fire Recordings. Check out the stream below and don’t forget to pick it up on Beatport tomorrow!
The NY-based powerhouse collaboration of Tommie Sunshine and The Disco Fries along with the sexy vocals of Kid Sister may sound huge enough – but not if BOTNEK has anything to say about it. The Canadian Dim Mak duo have taken the anthemic chords of the original and have thrown their signature slimy synths into the mixture, creating a monster production guaranteed to scream across the festival circuit this year. Check it out below, and pick it up Feb 11th on Vicious Recordings!

Perspicacious and outspoken, bearded and idiosyncratic — Tommie Sunshine is a staple in today’s dance music community, living in quite possibly the most rapidly emerging “coolest” city in the US, Brooklyn. Not only does Tommie head up the Brooklyn Fire imprint, but he puts together some killer originals, remixes, and edits used by artists around the world.
Today, Tommie has sent over his latest mix, “Walking In A Raver Wonderland,” complete with an abundance of unreleased material including some new edits from the collaborative Fries & Shine, who, you guessed it, is Tommie and his pals, Disco Fries. Pick it up below and find the full tracklist after the jump.
Brooklyn Fire label boss and GDD™ fav, Tommie Sunshine, is releasing a new EP titled Growth tomorrow via Scion A/V, and we get a jump on premiering the collaboration with Dutch duo, The Partysquad, from the release a day early. “Alright” is a multi-faceted production to say the least. From its downtempo Reggae introduction, the track slowly builds into a bouncy Big Room slammer while still incorporating an irie vibe throughout. All in all, a fun track. Stream above and check out the entire EP tomorrow over at Scion A/V.

Like me, I’m sure most of you have been to an Electro/Dubstep/Bass event and you’ve felt the low end penetrate your entire body making you feel like someone just stuck a vibrator into your left ventricle. Graphic yes, but you get the picture right? Anyway, this week I happened to be chatting with Justin Brown, of Tommie Sunshine‘s Brooklyn Fire Records, and he sent over this brand new collaborative track from Germany’s JSK and NYC’s Dances With White Girls that reminded me of the aforementioned feeling. ‘Shake That Thing’ is the 4th release on the Brooklyn Fire imprint, and with label support from Tiesto, Laidback Luke, Bart B More, Kaskade, and more, I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more great releases this year. If you like it, show some love and buy it on Beatport.

A year ago we posted on Fazhands, a DJ and Producer from London, UK. Over the past year he’s been kicking up a lot of heat: In 2009, his tunes were dropped midset at Ultra in Miami by none other than Tommie Sunshine, and his remix of Kanye’s ‘Love Lockdown’ was getting airplay by KissySellOut on BBC Radio 1. This week, Fazhands shall be crossing the Pond to grace our shores; embarking on a two week tour of the West-Coast of the US. Los Angeles hold tight, he’ll be spinning the Honey Lounge at The Avalon in two weeks time with Tiefschwarz. More on that next week, but for now, I’m going to let the beats do the talking. Here are two tracks from the forthcoming Flush EP that Faz has kindly given to GDD™ for an exclusive first look:
• Fazhands – Flush (Original mix)
• Fazhands – Mulberry (Original mix)
To pick up some of Fazhands’ earlier work, you can view our last post on him here.
Enjoy these, and stick Friday 2nd April in your planners – to quote a recent comment by my buddy ///Bones, “this is going to be the tits’ bananas”.
Although I moved out West a while back, I still find that my roots and comfort zone lie 3,000 miles to my right. The East Coast harbors an amalgam of people and cultures, and this diversity creates a uniqueness found nowhere else in the United States. Therefore, it is not very surprising that the East Coast electronic music scene has been flourishing for the past few years. I have compiled a little list of recent tracks produced by artists from across the way, so check ‘em out and give the East some respect.
