Next week in Los Angeles we welcome the Birmingham low-end lord Chris Lorenzo to NIGHT BASS, and we couldn’t be more excited. The man behind the emerald curtain that is Hannah Wants, Pete Graham, Legitimate Scandal, Cause & Affect and many more (that we don’t even know about) is gonna rip up Hollywood and you better not miss out. To get you ready for the festvities – and the weekend at that – NIGHT BASS teamed up with Thump Magazine to bring you an exclusive hour long mix from the bad man himself. Grab it below and hold on tight, this one gets a little bumpy…
It seems as the time has finally come; Jesse Rose‘s massive undertaking of his 12×12 series finally ends with The Whole Twelve Remixes, a selection of (you guessed it) twelve brand new remixes from a grand selection of talented musicians in the game like Guti, Sebo K, Matthias Tanzmann, Ardalan, Doorly, and more. Each track from his album The Whole Twelve Inches got a nice little revisit from legends and newcomers alike, thickening the remix roster for Jesse’s label Play It Down by a hefty amount.
As an added bonus, two new remixes are available for free downloads via their premiers on THUMP and XLR8R. Symbols’ angel Jaw Jam puts a softer edge on the bass-heavy ‘Underbelly’ and Blaine Lake takes Love The Feeling High to booming techno levels. Big.

I’ve been personally raving (no pun intended) about the Above & Beyond acoustic documentary since Thump aired it on YouTube last week. The 4 shows at Porchester Hall in London (as well as the 2 here in Los Angeles not in the film) were a testament to the musicianship of the longstanding trio, and their passion for creating such a complex performance is incredibly admirable.
As Above & Beyond Acoustic (the accompanying studio album) has been released today, we’ve been given a massive bundle of Above & Beyond merchandise to give away to one lucky person, including the DVD documentary, album, T-shirts, and all sorts of miscellaneous treats.
Enter to win this AMAZING prize below, and have a look at the goosebump-inducing full documentary via Thump as well! Continue Reading
An early Tuesday morning treat courtesy of the fine people at Thump, “Soul Satisfaction,” the first track on a new EP being released by Brooklyn producer, Bit Funk, is being given away as a free download. Instruments galore as the chorus gallops to groovy piano chords and a punchy jazz drum kit. The funk is made real through the evocation of soulful vocals backed by a healthy dance tempo. This is a superbly stellar production from the artist whose original works catalogue is rapidly expanding, it should be interesting to see what the rest of this project adds to his repertoire.
This month our friends at Solé Bicycles have partnered up with our pals over at Thump, the killer new electronic music and culture channel from VICE, to bring us a truly special fixtape. The godfather of funk, the french king of disco, the Ed Banger legend himself, Breakbot laid down close to 40 minutes of slow burning grooves. Although this tape is timeless, we highly urge you to throw it on now.
You can find the Download & Tracklisting HERE
[Giveaway] As an added bonus, a Solé bicycle designed by Breakbot himself will be given away through THUMP. Check out the contest details HERE for your chance to enter.

Yesterday, VICE announced the launch of their newest platform. An electronic music culture website and youtube channel called THUMP. To kick off the launch they debuted several videos covering artists, music and behind the scenes perspectives – one of which mirrored my post last week on Claude VonStroke at Marquee. Check out the video above to see what it’s like behind the booth and a glimpse into the mind of the master mixer!
