This might just be the biggest VERSUS we’ve had since our 1-year anniversary, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it. Our two special guests made one of our favorite tracks of 2011 and even inspired us to create a T-shirt. Needless to say, they’ll be going deep on Thursday night. On top of that, we are hosting TheFatRat‘s worldwide debut, which is a monumental milestone for the VS party. After 1000’s of <3‘s on Hype Machine and even more downloads of his fresh, new remixes, TheFatRat will be manning the decks at The Central in Santa Monica for the first time.
This event will be slammed, so make sure you RSVP HERE and show up early!
TheFatRat is no stranger to these parts and it was only natural to feature him in a proper GDD™ Spotlight. We have his brand new logo (pictured above) and an awesome 1-hour mix, which he was so kind to do for us, that contains the premiere of the full FatRat remix of Martin Solveig’s “The Night Out,” and plenty of other excellent tracks ranging from disco to dubstep (tracklist after the jump).
Also, the blogosphere has been well acquainted with his music and some brief information about him, but we have an in-depth interview that discusses reasons behind his anonymity, his production tools, application of the Karma Sutra, something that has made the biggest impact on his life today, and much much more. Not only are we giving you an exclusive inside look into the personality of TheFatRat & a mix for your listening pleasure, but we also have him booked for his live world premiere at our VS party in Santa Monica on Thursday (4/5). If you are in the LA area, you best be there. Now, head after the jump for the interview, check out the mix, and download it for free by clicking the “Buy” button on the Soundcloud player!
Last week, the first teaser of TheFatRat‘s remix of Martin Solveig‘s “The Night Out” surfaced on Vacay Vitamins. Today, we bring you second teaser of the massive release to be that will be premiered in full in a GDD™ Spotlight featuring the funky rodent himself. It will include an in-depth interview as well as a 1-hour mix exclusively for GDD™. Not only are we bringing you the full-length premiere of his remix and loads of other content, but we are also premiering his brand new logo as the mix artwork. The already jam-packed Spotlight will also include a very special announcement, so be sure to keep an eye out for it next week! You really shouldn’t need any further convincing to take notice, but if you do, Tommy Trash recently mentioned TheFatRat as a producer with high potential in a PB&J interview. Check out this teaser and get excited for next week!
There seem to be countless remixes of the famed “Levels,” but there are few that are truly pioneering and one of which is the work of an Andon Artist, TheFatRat. While still remaining anonymous, he is at it again with his signature disco complextro complete with a little Etta James. With the repetitive nature of electronic music, I feel that some producers have ventured away from the art of songwriting, but TheFatRat proves that there are still artists that are conscious of an arrangement from beginning to end. We have some great things in the works with TheFatRat, but they won’t be released until some time next week, so take this awesome tune and keep an eye out for more. Go ♥ it on The Hype MachineHERE!
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day! We have news featuring Flying Lotus & his Coachella plans, Orbital’s new album, Prodigy’s Warrior’s Dance Festival, and some fresh listening material from TheFatRat. Please read on after the jump.
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a producer that goes by the name TheFatRat. I listened to the preview of his remix of the Knocks’ “Bright Side” and I immediately went searching for more information on this very talented individual, but I came up empty. The only thing I know was that he is located here in Los Angeles. His productions range from a light-hearted disco/electro sound reminiscent of Madeon and a harder Porter Robinson-esque style. By having such traits, I’m very eager to hear more from this mysterious producer that seems to have so much potential.
