[GDD™ Premiere] TheFatRat – Splinter (Preview)

Aside from the lucky witnesses at his shows, TheFatRat has maintained his anonymity. Although his assistant, Chris, was finally exposed, the true identity of the artist is still shrouded in mystery. Despite the lurking curiosity, we still have the pleasure of receiving incendiary tracks such as this brand new original, “Splinter,” coming out January 25th via Spinnin’ Records. With this release, TheFatRat takes on a much heavier sound with monstrous dubstep weaving in and out of orchestrated strings. “Splinter” is certainly not for the faint of heart, so proceed with caution, you have been warned! With every passing day, it seems as though electronic dance music moves further into other genres and media outlets such as movie soundtracks and commercials. When my buddy informed me last week that TheFatRat produced a Lupe Fiasco track, I immediately had to find it and hear what it was all about. After listening, it was clear that our favorite disco-electro producer is at the forefront of the dance music/hip-hop fusion with this tasteful dubstep track that maintains a perfect balance of commercial appeal and gritty-ness of the underground. Throwback: TheFatRat – Do Be Do Be Do + DJ Tool ft. Daft Punk


After several months, a handful of well-crafted remixes/originals, a GDD Spotlight feature, and his worldwide debut at our VS party, TheFatRat is now thoroughly infiltrating the US and the rest of the world. Now that his recognition is growing by the day, I felt it was necessary to venture back to where it all started with one of his first tracks, “Do Be Do Be Do.” He’s been bringing his top quality disco-electro since day one.
