After pumping out 3 full, free albums in less than a year, emotional R&B artist Abel Tesfaye AKA The Weeknd has finally signed to a major for his 4th full length, Kiss Land, which successfully carries on right where Trilogy left off. Tesfaye’s vocals evoke a sense of loss and love simultaneously, creating an image of a somewhat tortured soul finding his way through a dozen fervent songs. Calling upon banner names like Drake and Pharrell to lend their talents, we’re pretty sure Kiss Land will make its way to mainstream radio in no time. Listen to the whole record below. √+

Perhaps for the better, LA has temporarily lost one of its top producers to the UK. Yung Taylor Freels, who goes by the name Urulu, has quickly established himself atop the ranks of sophisticated house listeners with a grip of chart-topping tracks on Exlpoited, petFood, and most recently Needwant. He’s reworked The Weeknd’s ‘Twenty Eight‘ into a balearic symphony of warm pads and soft vocal croons. If you find yourself sailing around with a bevy of babes, you’d most definitely want to impress with this tune, however, it still pairs very well with your morning coffee. Grab the free download below.
Our Toronto-based brethren Poupon has taken The Weeknd’s latest single “Enemy” and created an amazing house edit for your late nights. A rolling bassline stays afloat with a haunting vocal pitch, sailing the track straight into the deep end. Grab it below, and start getting sexual.

Either way, keep that booty shaking and those feet tapping. All EPs with streams and buy links (along with a bonus download) after the jump…

Today, Barrett Richards AKA Kastle released his So You EP on Silverback Recordings, and it’s getting a big two thumbs up from me. Incorporating healthy portions of low end and tasteful vocal samples, Kastle has really impressed me with all 3 original tracks on the EP. In the same vein as artists like The Weeknd and Brenmar, Kastle truly infuses a sense of soul with a deep bass sound in this release, making any of the 3 tracks a great latenight weapon to throw in a groovier set. Pick up the EP along with remixes from Chaos in the CBD and Blackwax on iTunes, and check out the promo mix featuring all originals below.

Ever since The Weeknd started sexin’ up the scene back in March, I’ve been on the lookout for some proper, well done remixes/edits of any of The Weeknd’s tracks off their (his) album “House of Balloons”. After months on the prowl, it looks like someone finally delivered the goods…a solid house edit that maintains the sexy late night/early morning vibe of the original while giving the tune a pulse. And who better to deliver the goods than GDD’s favorite Canadian combo, Max & Zach, aka Prince Club.
