Good news this morning from the Hamburg duo, Digitalism. The guys will be embarking on a brand new live tour starting next week in San Francisco, hitting a total of nine cities in less than two weeks. Jence and Isi reached back to their Rock roots for this US tour, booking smaller, live music venues like the Independent in SF, the Bluebird Theater in Denver, and the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles. Additionally, the guys have two upcoming remixes for Bloc Party and The Rapture on Toolroom, which leads us to believe that Digitalism is coming back to their Rock/Indie meets Electronic origins. Excellent.
For all those that love getting a tan in the winter, thongs thinner than dental floss, and glistening bootay reflected off the Mediterranean Sea, this mix tape is for you. By our very own Tropicool, this tape will put the funk back in your step and make your day sparkle brighter than a disco ball at Studio 54. There are tons of exclusives littered in this mix tape and all for your aural pleasure. Enjoi, and let the Tropo-funk warm your soul.
“Real thugs play house music” is the motto tied to the Philadelphia born and raised Dances With White Girls and it’s for good reason. You may be familiar with the man behind the unmistakeable name from his past affiliation with The Rapture, their then Throne of Blood label, and for his most recent co-production with Mattie Safer (formerly of The Rapture) on “Is That Your Girl?”. Regardless, you should known that he just came out with his boldly named after-hours track “It’s About the House,” along with a plethora of great remixes. Amidst the numerous entries that DFA records have been receiving for the remix competition of The Rapture‘s “How Deep Is Your Love,” one of the best perks is having some of the big guns offer there talent. Bang Gang crew’s Cassian just uploaded his remix this evening, absolutely for FREE. Here’s what the young auzzie had to say about it:
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to remix this track. I’d been dying to do it since I first heard the tune. So here it is, my entry for the How Deep Is Your Love remix competition.
Fresh off their tour of the United Kingdom supporting The Rapture, the 5-some from London known as Citizens! will be releasing their debut single, ‘True Romance,’ on Kitsuné on December 19th, and today they’ve sent over the accompanying music video directed by the masterminds of the High 5 Collective as well as the light-hearted, piano-laiden remix from GDD™ fav, Gigamesh. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an unbelievable full length from these guys in 2012.
This wave may be the most perfect to date. Refreshing, flowing, and made of your favorite lager. Get loose, grab your honey bunny, and take tomorrow off.
“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
Since 2003, The Rapture have released two of the most groundbreaking albums of the decade: “Echoes” & “Pieces of the People We Love”. Their sound has ranged from disco-punk & new wave to acid house & rock and roll. They’ve seen labels & band members come and go and the trio have now come full circle, making a triumphant return to DFA records. If ever there were a band to fill the void left from the label’s departure with a heavyweight like LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture would be it.
Their new track, “How Deep Is Your Love?”, is a fully stocked disco buffet complete with a killer vocal hook, groovin’ piano, a sax solo & some howling Hallelujahs. Their new album, “In the Grace of Your Love”, won’t be out until September but you can pick up the vinyl of “How Deep Is Your Love?” from the DFA Webstore now!
