Our friends at Production Club put together one hell of a party in SF a couple weeks ago, with an equally impressive recap video featuring Skrillex b2b Diplo + The M Machine + Destructo + our very own Burn Unit.
Our friends, The M Machine, recently released Part II of their epic debut album, Metropolis, a week ago today on OWSLA, and this afternoon, they’ve unveiled the brilliantly animated music video for “Tiny Anthem” — the downtempo, vocal-driven, and ruminative third track on Metropolis Part II. It’s difficult to build a concept around releases in dance music in this age, and we applaud The M Machine and those involved for truly creating art across multiple mediums with this release. Our SF friends known as The M Machine have always had a knack for taking Pop songs and rendering them into their own vision. From their vicious remix of Lil Jon’s “I Do” as Pance Party to this most recent remix of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven,” the trio find a way to maintain the catchy sensibilities of the originals while providing a dollop of their style of Dance music on top. The guys take a glitchy, DnB direction with this remix released today on Atlantic Records, and I’m into it.

As some of you may or may not know, we’ve started up a new project here at GDD™, bringing in a video element to the brand called GDD.tv. Our team (big shout out to Alex, Laura D + KMOC) was hard at work out in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago; locking down interviews with some of the scene’s best musicians that were out in the desert for the biggest dance music festival in North America. Our brilliant videographer, Alexander Jacob, has put together a teaser video of some of the artists that we had the pleasure of chatting with, so have a quick watch and keep an eye out for the full interviews to surface in the near future!

Our pal Porter Robinson will be embarking on a massive 31-date tour next week in promotion of his new single, ‘Language,’ including a kick-off date at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas next Sunday the 10th. Supporting him throughout June and July will be Mat Zo and The M Machine, providing for a concrete trio of talent for this extended summer tour. Our good friends from San Francisco, The M Machine, have just released the first half of their debut album today on Skrillex‘s OWSLA imprint, and as always with this terrific trio, we’re impressed. The M Machine take influence from Deep, Dark Electro and Dubstep and pair it with Indie sensibilities, creating an extremely unique and refreshing sound. In that vein, not only do Ben, Eric, and Andy produce a thumping dancefloor vibe with tracks like ‘Immigrants’ and ‘Shadow In The Rose Garden,’ but they touch on a more vocal-driven style with ‘Faces’ and ‘A King Alone.’ Needless to say, after hearing these first 6 tracks I can’t wait until Metropolis Pt. We’ve watched the 3 guys of The M Machine grow and progress over the past 3 years from their humble beginnings as Pance Party. Each year, they’ve acquired more talent and produced better music, so obviously we were happy to hear when Ben, Eric, and Andy signed the massive deal with Skrillex‘s OWSLA imprint. Today, the music video for their single ‘Glow’ was released, and it’s artistry and direction is impeccable. According to The M Machine, “The video showcases one life in the city of Metropolis. ‘Glow’ is the story of finding yourself in a deeply unsettling place and breaking free.”

This week marked a huge milestone for the ever-growing relationship between Dim Mak and GDD™. BONES began his residency at the famed Dim Mak Studios Tuesday weekly, and we’re keeping the festivities going tonight as BONES will play along our good friends, The M Machine, at Drai’s in Hollywood. It’s a long weekend people, and I know that school and most work tomorrow is non-existent thanks to Mr. King, Jr., so come witness an awesome show with us.
