The Miami based Sluggers have brought a classic back from the dead and created a monster. The anthemic “Get Yourself High” by The Chemical Brothers has helped paved the way in electronic music today, and Sluggers pay homage in their new version. Keeping the spookiness of the original, they add a dark and techy feel with a rolling bassline and that compliments the techno driven lead and “chemical” stabs. “The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. The Chemical Brothers have recently composed the score to forthcoming Saoirse Ronan thriller Hanna. Dropping next tuesday, the 20 track record ranges from the serenely mellow ‘Hanna’s Theme’ to acid infused ‘Escape Wavefold’ and the frenetic ‘Hanna vs. Marissa’. It’s been a minute since we’ve given our Bay Area readers a hot pair of tickets, but have we got a giveaway for you. Thanks to our friends at BandsInSanFran, Gotta Dance Dirty™ is very excited to award the first reader to email me at tronjeremy at gottadancedirty dot com with the name of their favorite Chemical Brothers song with a pair of tickets to see them and London’s Freq Nasty in Oakland this Saturday at The Fox Theatre.

With a career spanning across nearly two decades, The Chemical Brothers have stayed active throughout the years, turning out hit after hit despite rapidly changing tastes in electronic music. If you haven’t been able to keep with them, here’s a hit from their new album Further and a clip of their live performance (complete with zany visuals). Dirty dancers, this is not a performance to be missed!
