Summer is in full swing, and after a huge 4th of July weekend what better than to keep the vibes rolling along with a new one from our GDD fav Viceroy! This time, the SF-based wonder churns out an official remix for Maroon 5‘s new single “Love Somebody.” This one reminds me of earlier indie-dance tracks we used to love from the likes of Grum and Fred Falke. Get your hands on it below!
Apologies for the hiatus, friends. Last week that evil siren Vegas clutched the GDD™ crew tightly in her grasp and forbade us from blessing your ears with that week’s dosage of The Dirt. Alas, here we go, with ten tracks curated by our own Troy Kurtz & Burn Unit, fresh off two killer sets aboard the GDD™ Presents: Wide Awake Art Car Stage at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas. Get it into you.
To celebrate the launch of his label collaboration with Du Tonc and Van She called NIGHTFILM, Mighty Mouse has released the perfect summer feel-good track for free download on Nightfilm’s facebook page. The track, aptly named “Feel Alright,” arrives just in time for the Fourth of July and your summer party groovin’. Catch it below!
Our bud and New York native Air Zaire just dropped this little slice of tropical disco heaven today for free download. Reminiscent of the cool vibes of Plastic Plates and Viceroy, the bright chimes and sexy vocals on this track are sure to set the mood for all your summertime fun. Grab it below!
Gentlemen Hall‘s “Sail Into The Sun” has not only infiltrated radio by being the backdrop to Samsung and Target commercials…its also become a bonafide Summer anthem. With cheery lyrics and a laid back attitude, it’s hard to not imagine bikinis and lakeside bonfires with this on in the background.
Three Chicago artists take a stab at the track on two separate remixes – Dani Deahl & Animale turn the track into a main room blitzer with Dutch-like synths that rise into a crescendo. It’s countered by blithe breakdowns with the plinking music-box sounds from the original and uplifting melodies, but it doesn’t stay silent for long. Expect to hear this one on the summer festival circuit, notably Dani’s performance @ EDC Chicago!
Chicago’s Sam Padrul capitalizes on the track’s breezy qualities and shifts it into a nu-disco jam. Replete with lush chords and dripping with funk, Padrul eschewed most of the supplied stems, opting to just use the vocals while writing all his own instrumentation. Catch a summer vibe on this one…
This four track EP by Steve Huerta on Amadeus Records is sexy, deep house with a club-friendly demeanor geared for the summer. Throbbing bass, bubbly synths, intricate vocal work and sampling, spot-on grooves and percussion, filtered pad work. It takes you deep– very deep– but in a friendly sort of way that Steve is carving out as his signature. I’ve always loved what he does with the vocal samples that he combs the sonic world to find, and he’s got a hauntingly good sense of atmosphere that is at this point unmistakable. All wraps up nicely by an even deeper remix by Urulu, another favorite of ours. Everything these two put out just keeps getting better and better. I’m on board and hereby offer my unconditional endorsement.
After much anticipation to finally put this out , I present you with BONESTHE DEEP END – Summer Mixtape 2012, a showcase of some of my favorite deep, tech, bassline, garage and funky house tracks as of current in my sets and for the season. Aside from the big tunes, there is just too much good music out there right now and I wanted to reflect a cooler groove for you to bop to this summer. Enough talking – head to the deep end, and get in over your ears.
*Featuring the music of Cajmere, Justin Martin, Hot Since 82, Shadow Child, Julio Bashmore, Eats Everything, Amine Edge, Pleasurekaft, Nick Monaco & Kill Frenzy, Them Jeans, Disclosure, Zombie Disco Squad and MORE!

Etnik‘s latest bomb is a remix of I Heart Shark‘s newest single, Summer. Etnik has eradicated the original feel good summer jam and completely morphed it into a dark, acid-infused explosion. With well-constructed synths and two major drops, this track will keep your head bumping until it’s glorious end.
