We’ve teamed up with our friends at The Do LaB to bring you a special edition of our guest mix series featuring San Francisco’s Giraffage! As a bedroom producer-turned-touring act, he has established a strong online presence to cultivate a respected reputation for his dreamy future bass beats. Now with Giraffage‘s fantastic guest mix featuring everything from Canblaster to Kaytranada and some unreleased tunes of his own, you can enjoy a proper preview for his show at the KING KING this Friday, January 17th (Tickets).
This year, The Do LaB has made a commitment to feature more new and diverse music and artists for their fans at their shows. With bookings like Giraffage, Darkside, Blockhead, Teen Daze, and Papadosio, amongst others, they’re already on their way to making 2014 one of their best years yet.

IT’S ANOTHER ROUND OF THE DIRT, HAAAAAAAAAAAAN! A DAY LATE FOR Y’ALLS LONG WEEKEND! *AIRHORN*
In true-to-form fashion, I went a little ham on the R&B influences and remixes… there’s a lot of good stuff circulating right now and whilst still full of summer-driven high serotonin levels I’m basically only listening to stuff that I can sing/rap along to or dance to… or both. There’s a good sprinkling of emotion and a touch of acid just to round it off. Can’t be on one all the time you know. Also I think the median age for the remixers/producers on these tracks is around 20 which means A. I’m getting old and B. college-level guys are way more into Amerie and Ciara (publicly) than I remember.
My good bud Burn Unit really vibing off the British & American producers and vibes, lots of feel-good stuff in his picks from quite a few budding producers.
You can of course download each individual track via Soundcloud but each of us have zipped our selections up for you for easy download purposes. Trust us. – Laura
I’m sitting here trying to think of the right word to use for a Blog / Label… Blabel? Lablog? Log? Either way you cut the potato, Live For The Funk has been bringing some really special original content to the world, most notably with their newly set up release front.
Up next from that spectrum is from the young Parisian man known as Stwo. I’ve been an absolute fan of young Parisian producers as of late, seems as though they’re fitting into the “French men know real romance” cliché, which when put into musical content is 100% happily lapped up by me. The Beyond EP contains five tracks, with a similar slowed and soulful vibe across each of them. Topped off with a fair amount of bright female vocals, the EP is highlighted (in my opinion) by the first track “Lovin U”, which hits you with a low-end that pierces right into your core.
The EP is available for download as of July 3 through the LFTF Soundcloud. In the mean time, you can preview snippits of each track on the stream below:
After hearing Andrea‘s consistently stunning tracks, and watching his all too brief Life is a Banana live set, I was inclined to feature him on a GDD™ Guest Mix. As a producer/DJ from France, he doesn’t quite fit the general style that typically comes to be associated with the European country. Andrea has a keen sense of the bass-driven underground as he tends to gravitate towards a soulful, downtempo sound with lush atmospheres and a hint of hip-hop influence. His excellent 30 minute mix exhibits his distinctive taste and strong vibes that will keep you coming back for more.
