The Parisian duo known as ALESIA has broken through with their genre-defying style of dance music, and the world is has taken notice. With releases on OWSLA, Mad Decent, and more, ALESIA is also being recognized by well-respected tastemakers in the scene, while keeping their music fresh and forward-thinking. In their fantastic guest mix, which they’ve dubbed “I Call My Brother ‘Moon’ Cause He Shine Like One,” they offer a broad spectrum of styles and rhythms made cohesive with their harder, high energy vibe that will keep you on the edge of your seat – or off of it, for that matter. Enjoy the mix below and stay tuned for ALESIA‘s sophomore EP on OWSLA this Summer.

Mikah Freeman and Vance Musgrove are The Aston Shuffle — a duo out of Australia who produce some extremely danceable tunes in addition to running Friday Night Shuffle, a radio show on the prominent Triple J in Sydney. Last month, the guys put out the Won’t Get Lost EP on NYC imprint, Plant Music, accompanied by a party of remixes — my favorite coming from Solo – and today the guys have put together a mixtape in honor of the May release. Tons of great music stuck in here, including originals from Country Club, Jan Driver, Strip Steve, and more. Have a listen to the mix and EP below. Continue Reading

The visually stimulating music video for Strip Steve & Puro Instinct‘s ‘Astral Projection’ was just released this morning, and Strip Steve AKA Theo Pozoga displays his multiple hat wearing skills as he writes, directs, and produces the video and track due out on the Astral Projection EP on Alex Ridha’s BNR on June 25th. The single will also be included on Strip Steve’s forthcoming debut full length, Micro Mega, which will feature 13 originals from the Berlin-based artist. I need to get me one of these shirts! Happy Monday GDD™ people! After one serious bender of a weekend, I am back to the grind and ready to give you all some great tunes to start the week off right. Check out this 5 pack of remixes from some of the top artists in the game right now.

Light Year – Marcellus (Malente Remix) √+
Our buddies from Oz are coming out with a HUGE remix release this Friday, July 15th on Bang Gang Records. The package features remixes from Harvard Bass, Strip Steve, Alex Gopher, The Finger Prince, and of course Malente. Give this groovin’ House track the volume it deserves and head over to the brand new Light Year website for more info.

Noah and the Whale – Life Is Life (Yuksek Remix) √+
So what it’s a Monday. Turn that frown upside-down after listening to this pick-me-up of a track. Smiles and sun all around.

Chromeo – When The Night Falls (Hercules And Love Affair Remix)
I posted the Breakbot remix of this track last week which had the standard Disco feel to it. This rendition from Hercules And Love Affair throws in a pretty catchy synth lead in the mix. Give it a go.

Little Dragon – Ritual Union (Tensnake Remix) [Beatport]
The Swedish band, Little Dragon, released the EP for ‘Ritual Union’ last week on Peacefrog Records, featuring touch-ups from Tensnake, Maya Jane Coles, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Tensnake turns the tempo down in this remix to create a really great track. Grab Little Dragon’s full length album on July 26th.

Azari & III – Manic [The Finger Prince 'Static Situation' remix] by PurplePR
Great new remix from Bang Gang rep, The Finger Prince. Can’t wait for this release.

The absolutely stunning Kid Sister will be performing live tonight at CONTROL at the Avalon in Hollywood. This Windy City woman has been the voice to some great dance tracks in the past few years, including the big track by Mehdi and Riton in 2o10 titled ‘Do Do Do’ that was made into a monster remix by the legendary Laidback Luke. Supporting her will be SF’s Trevor Simpson, as well as local LA talent from Mr. White, Thee Mike B, and Steve Prior.

We will also be holding down the GDD™ House Party room tonight with our friends from Techno Color Kids as well as the lovely ladies of TrippensoXx, so come have a drink with us in the room directly to the right of the front of the stage.
