Over the past couple of weeks, London’s Maribou State has been unveiling their forthcoming Truths EP one track at a time. Due out on Southern Fried Records next Monday, October 28th, the EP is a journey through rich organic textures, soulful melodies, affecting vocals, and deep bass – all with subtle psychedelic accents. Maribou State consistently infuses their releases with thought-provoking emotion, and this one is no exception. Check out three of the four tracks on the EP below and keep tabs on their Facebook for news. I’ve had the title track on repeat…

Yesterday, our good mate Doorly put together an 80-minute guest mix for us, featuring a handful of tunes we had never heard before. One of these tunes happened to be the closing track of the mix — a track called “disappearer” under a brand new project, Avec, consisting of Doorly and fellow UK producer, Dave Spoon (aka Shadow Child). “disappeared” is laden with piano and has an uplifting Disco House vibe to it. Oh ya, and did I mention that they brought in Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears for vocals? Yes, they did. And yes, it’s as good as you’d expect from these 3 together. Out on Southern Fried Records soon. √+

Wax Motif, known to many as Waxy, has really built up and secured his new Big Room sound. A talented producer of many sub-genres of dance music, Waxy has released everything from GDD™ favorite “Go Deep” on Southern Fried Records to “Particle” on Laidback Luke‘s Mixmash Records. Lately it seems as if he’s found his niche in Electro suited for main stage, as evident in this firing new freebie released by the kind folks over at Fool’s Gold ClubHouse. “CTRL 66″ finds it’s home on the 2nd ClubHouse compilation, and it’s a biggie. The Whip have released their latest album, Wired Together, this month on Southern Fried Records, and I’m expecting a slew of remixes coming off of the 11-track LP in addition to the fantastic Alex Metric version of ‘Secret Weapon’ that we posted a few weeks ago as well as this out-of-the-norm rendition from Blue Satellite. After hearing Blue Satellite’s take on Edwin van Cleef’s latest single as well as a few other dreamier, funkier productions, this new remix came as a bit of a surprise to me. It incorporates some big time Electro elements illuminating that Blue Satellite can make any song and any genre his own.

Had to give a shout out to the great original here as well.

The Whip will be releasing a new single titled, ‘Secret Weapon,’ on Southern Fried Records this month, and the great people over at SFR have been kind enough to give away fellow Brit Alex Metric‘s remix away to go along with it. The indie feel from The Whip’s original rendition is juxtaposed to Alex Metric’s keen sense of bassline usage making for a great collaboration and a must have for any occasion.

Pay attention kiddos, big tunes ahead!  In this week’s edition of “The Dirt,” we are proud to present the incredibly talented, Linus Eklow, aka Style of Eye.  The Stockholm native is known for his eclectic sound, which stylistically utilizes a fresh blend of techno, house and a healthy dose of raw, grinding electro. He has had a considerable amount of success with releases on Dirtybird Records, whom you’ll recall from the from Claude VonStroke/Justin Martin CONTROL at Avalon last Friday.  With support from some of dance music’s biggest names (John Dahlback, Tiga, and Swedish House Mafia to name a few), Style Of Eye is on track to fulfilling DJ Mag’s prediction of becoming an “Important Future Star.”  We predict he will continually blow us away with innovative productions, pumping DJ sets and generally just being a really cool guy.  Most of these are unreleased or brand new so read more for streams of his top tracks with my commentary after the jump…

If you are like me, you know that NT89 is HELL OF underrated. Respected on both Turbo and Southern Fried recordings, Nima Tahmasebi has produced some of the best hard house and techno remixes that are in full support by the likes of Crookers, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Laurent Garnier, Diplo, The Bloody Beetroots, Congorock, Shinichi Osawa, Brodinski and Style of Eye.
Just recently, he became part of the PIE artists management family, alongside Mumbai Science, Prince Club, Van Toth and Bareback DJs (just to name a few). We are excited for this addition to PIE artists because as they are also a Los Angeles based management, we will be seeing more of NT89 in our neck of the planet. I can’t say anymore right now, but expect more exciting acquisitions from PIE Artists. For now, grab some of his most recent releases below, including the unmasked ‘Arabesque’ remix that was long waiting to be identified, as well as his VIP remix of Babylon that he finally released to the public after requests were through the roof.
