Alright this is a fly approach to SoundCloud, and you know how much I love SoundCloud.  The homies at ToneDen.io, in their eternal l33tness, hacked together the ToneDen Player with their signature boss UI design and a super trippy visualizer.  I’m a fan.  Read more below for how to implement…

The new player allows for music bloggers, musicians, and web developers to choose between four different color schemes and two different visualizers (for Google Chrome users) when featuring the new player on their website, providing them with a fresh alternative to the current SoundCloud widget.

Anyone interested in featuring the player on their website can get more information on how to implement it by visiting the player demo page. For those without websites, it’s possible to showcase your songs with the player by creating an account on ToneDen.

For today’s musician, building out an official website is a necessary evil, one which can quickly become frustrating and expensive.  ToneDen looks to solve these problems by offering an elegant approach for the modern musician to showcase themselves online.  With a few clicks, each artist can now configure their own beautifully designed site.  Integrating their SoundCloud, Facebook, and Twitter accounts in one place, ToneDen also features a press kit generator for one sheets, and robust analytics.  Essentially, everything the modern musician could need.

I wasn’t there, and I only have the theme from L-Vis 1990′s SoundCloud and a snippet of a video posted by the NY Times to bring this testament to life, regardless, there was an explosion of artistry the other weekend at Art Basel in Miami as London’s Matthew Stone & Co. took to the stage in a display of gender bending spirituality. The theme from L-Vis 1990 that was featured in the opera is a dark meticulously composed piece that grips you for it’s entirety as an electronic symphony comes to life inside your head. In a world where DJ’s get a pretty bad rap for their one dimensional performances, it’s artists like L-Vis 1990 that breathe life back into the word, artist. Catch the short recap video of the performance and L-Vis 1990′s soundtrack after the jump and see if you can make some sense of the art. Continue Reading

Found another diamond in the rough. The Venice Beach native Erik Wilkinson aka Wilks has only emerged on soundcloud a few months ago, but already has the right idea by releasing free originals from the get go. The style provokes classic house chords carried by deep basslines and funky riffs, with vox samples from the likes of Q-Tip, Bob Marley, and The Chili Peppers that prove hauntingly perfect. His most recent single “Ghetto” is below, along with with my other favorites from his so far. Grab these below and follow this dude, let’s see where he goes…

In the next installment of his Hot Sex giveaway series, Valentino Khan shows us an uptempo side of his production – perhaps an influence of his recent tour w/ The Bloody Beetroots? Or just his transformation into new genres? This is definitely a high-energy rollercoaster ride, even villainous in its tone! Listen for yourself and grab it below…
