While I personally can’t stand to hear “Make That Booty Clap” one more time this year, there’s no denying the massive success it had across all genres of dance music in 2012. From Soul Clap to Skrillex, Kill Frenzy united the community with his rump-shaking masterpiece. Now, the Belgian follows up his debut EP on dirtybird with Go To The Mo — a 3-track EP which once again demonstrates Kill Frenzy’s ability to make dance music for all sorts. Bits of Breaks, Techno, Bass, and more can be heard throughout the 3 original productions, leading me to believe that Kill Frenzy has found a good home here in America with the eclectic dirtybird family. Go To The Mo is out today on Beatport and will be released worldwide on the 25th. √+Continue Reading
This Saturday, eclectic Boston duo, Soul Clap, will be coming to Los Angeles to host a secret Downtown warehouse event in celebration of their debut album, EFUNK, which just recently dropped on Wolf + Lamb. Soul Clap will be headlining the late night soiree, with support from Thugfucker, a live set from Pillowtalk, Jeniluv from Making Shapes, and Clovis from the Culprit camp. Read on for instructions on how to enter to win a pair of tickets to the event as well as a link to the newly uploaded stream of the full album. Find all info on the event and purchase tickets here. The excitement is heating up as we’re only 2 days away until Colorado’s Vail Valley gets transformed into the winter wonderland of noise known as Snowball Music Festival. After a huge success with last years debut and a memorable follow up @ Snowglobe for New Years, the anticipation couldn’t be higher for what’s becoming the staple seasonal music event in the rocky mountains. With a beefed up lineup and a array of great late night events, there is something for every festival-goers taste. This year, GDD will also be hosting an official after party on Friday night! Happy Friday! I hope this week treated you well and I hope the weekend will treat you even better. I have news featuring James Murphy working with the Gorillaz & Andre 3000, Skrillex videos, and Soul Clap. Please read on after the jump.
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs has been signed to Polydor for his debut LP to be released sometime in 2012. The album will feature new and previously released tracks from Orlando, and in the mean time, Polydor will be putting out an EP for the track that came out on Greco-Roman last year, ‘Garden.’ The remix pack will be ready for purchase on October 2nd and is heavy with talent including Soul Clap, Hackman, Hot Chip‘s Joe Goddard, and more. Give a listen to Joe’s groovy take on the original below.
Besides being the most stylistically forward cat in the game right now, Theophilus London is quickly staking his name among the world’s top young rappers. I’ve got two great remixes to kick-start your weekend. The first one is a freshly released remix of ‘Why Even Try‘ by Remix Artist Collective (RAC). This lighthearted remix makes you want to want to skip across street corners and stroke your lover’s cheek while whispering sweet nothings. Boston’s Soul Clap speeds up and trips out ‘Flying Overseas‘, muffling Theo’s voice to have it gently ride along some eerily warm pads and always necessary 808s.
