*Bedsqueak, bedsqueak* The reason Trippy Turtle may be one of the lesser known artists on the docket for Snowglobe Music Fest isn’t a lack of musical ability, the dude just likes to be anonymous. Before he began touring in his classic green turtle hood, Trippy’s identity was so well concealed that many attributed the act to his close friend Cashmere Cat. While we now know they are certainly not one in the same, one could say that their production skills do go hand in hand.
A true pioneer in the (relatively new to the lime light) Jersey Club scene, Trippy Turtle utilizes an obviously expansive mastery of sound to create truly entertaining and flawless works. Some of his more popular tunes include a huge collaboration remix of “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay” with DJ Hoodboi as well as his latest original “Trippy’s Theme.” If you find yourself in the mood to get down to some bed squeaks and water droplets in Tahoe this year, be sure to catch a sure-to-be stunning set from Trippy Turtle.

Our good homies the Bixel Boys have had a huge breakout year and cap it off with their follow up original EP Bring It On on the legendary NYC based Nervous Records. The title track ‘Bring It On’ is a marching band inspired monster – massive snares and cheer vocal chops tidal wave into a heavy drop of sinister brass band stabs and a bouncing bass line. The B-side ‘CPR’ carries a slower rate (113bpm and literally samples a cardiac monitor) with a warehouse feel of grinding techno/electro. The EP already has received support from the likes of Congorock, Kastle, LA Riots, Tittsworth, Jillionaire of Major Lazer, Harvard Bass, Adrian Lux, 3LAU and many more.
The remix savants have really made a recent change in their sound, with their most recent releases solely being banging underground tracks with big room viability. Listen below, and be sure to catch them over NYE weekend at SnowGlobe Music Festival December 29-31 in Lake Tahoe, CA.

It’s looking like this year’s SnowGlobe Festival in Lake Tahoe could be their biggest one yet. Pick up tickets here and check in on November 3rd for the announcement of another headliner. I’m guessing Major Lazer or Diplo…
Tomorrow, Burn Unit and I will be embarking on our journey North to the first SnowGlobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe for New Year’s Eve. The excitement and anticipation of the Wintery mountain vibes coupled with a star-studded lineup leaves me with an urge to turn the clocks forward so the festivities can finally commence. Not only is this festival great for the music, but also the other things that the organizers are including such as the art, installations, and performers that will create an experience unique to this year’s SnowGlobe. If you still don’t have plans for NYE, you may regret not taking advantage of this excellent opportunity, so grab tickets while you still can.
On top of the outstanding festival line-up you can’t forget about the official late night events taking place put on by our good friends from SF BLAP Productions, with performances by Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, MiM0SA, and more every night from Thursday to Saturday! On Friday night make sure to catch GDD’s very own Matt Black aka Burn Unit spinning with Madeon at the Horizon Stateline Casino! Click the link above for tickets!
If you can’t make it, come back here next week for our full review! Check out my tentative artist selections, videos, and some relevant music for the drive out after the jump.
