Sometimes I like to think I have a sense of humor. Most of the time I end up just realizing that I have really boisterous opinions and too many platforms with which to express them, but that is neither here nor there.

One of the infinite pleasures of the industry is that the vast majority of DJs and producers are weirdos like me which oft goes fairly unnoticed in regular interviews. Cue my brilliant idea to enhance and embrace this weirdness & just get a bit silly with some of my favorite LOL-worthy artists. So stay tuned for “For the LOLs” to become a more regular thing, cuz if there’s one thing I know Gotta Dance Dirty loves as much as music it’s pure jokes. And whiskey. And stickers on butts. I digress.

My first LOL-erview is with the ever amazing Salva, I’ll leave you to just enjoy the rest after the jump. If you ever have a question you’d like to ask or an artist you’d love for me to chat with, hit @GottaDanceDirty or myself (@lauradambuleff) on Twitter. Stay weird.

2013 has only just begun and Salva is already having a hell of a year. After announcing his primetime slot on BBC Radio 1′s “In New DJs We Trust” (along with the wholly deserving Brodinski), running train on the blogs by dropping a collab with Brenmar “Let Me Bang” and an early preview of “Drop That B”, finishing a quick US tour, and laying down a rowdy set to a massive post-Grammy’s crowd last night at Drai’s, he’s dropping his first EP of the year Odd Furniture… and doing it early.

Well what originally started as entirely a joke between young Three Wise & myself quickly escalated into one of the most popular posts on GottaDanceDirty…. and for that we’d like to thank SEXY DJs and the apparent thousands of people who want to know who they are. Any way, we’re back & although there’ll be slightly less pretty pictures for you to look at this week there’s definitely no shortage of sexy jams. — Laura.

In honor of Sesame Street, today is brought to you exclusively by the number 12. One of my favorite DJs and all-around standup guy 12th Planet is ready to shake the Earth tonight with his massive show THE END tonight at Exchange LA. Supported by an amazing lineup of Salva, Two Fresh, DallasK, and Clicks & Whistles,  it’s 12thy’s evening of all evenings, with the planets aligning just right for 12/12/12.

In honor of THE END, I asked 12th Planet for 12 things he’d like to do before the apocalypse. True-to-form, he delivered superbly entertaining answers. Go ahead and check them out after the jump and find out how you can win a pair of tickets to his show TONIGHT.

Next up from San Francisco label Frite Nite is Clicks & Whistles‘ double-sided “Fumando / Southern Slaw”. Notorious for their symbiotic use of floaty synth patterns and bass-rattling undertones, Clicks & Whistles uniquely combines their Charlotte origins with intelligent and forward-thinking musical concepts. Frite Nite, Salva‘s well stacked label, is the perfect platform for the release, itself a major advocate of new, boundary pushing sounds.

I’m a big fan of the stuff Salva pushes… he’s got a finely-tuned ear that enables him to push weirder, uniquely crafted songs but still be able to blast through speakers to grab anyone’s attention, and keep it. Like they say on the release, “these tunes are a just a touch more intelligent than your average club banger, weird enough to keep the elitists engaged and still destroy on a big sound system.” So there you have it. Both drippy & upbeat tunes with southern rap influences, they take a crafty and wiser look at the new generation of trap music.

Round two of Science Sundays is already upon us and what better chemical to bring into the mix than the first one I put in my body this morning? Don’t get any of the wrong ideas guys… just caffeine. There are few things I delight in more (slash find absolutely necessary to have in my life every day) than a joyous cup of coffee, and that in large part is due to its caffeine content. Caffeine, for all you terminology nerds, is a xanthine alkaloid that acts as a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. OK, so that basically means it’s a stimulant. It perks you up, helps keep you clear and focused, and if you’re anything like me after three cappuccinos, can make you jittery and energetic.

So there we have it. Below are a few songs I enjoy, ones that I find help me wake up in the morning, put my head in a nice and clear space, keep me tapping my feet in my desk chair, and ward off any yawns or feelings of exhaustion of the moment. So if you’re feeling a little groggy on Monday morning, or start slowing down at work in the afternoon, fill up your favorite mug and press play. I promise you’ll be right as rain in no time.

Believe it or not, the already popular ‘Mercy‘ by Kanye West just got better.  Remixed by the dark & twisted future-bass pioneers of the moment, RL Grime & Salva, this raved out Post-Apocalyptic Trap take on the single will without a doubt be a dance-floor killer this summer.  Only available to stream at the moment.  Enjoy! >:) devil
