Australian natives, RÜFÜS, or RÜFÜS DU SOL (as copyright laws suggest they be known as in the U.S.), are an act to be reckoned with as they fuse an energetic live setup with intricate electronic components that radiate a universal feeling to their audience. With a sold out show their first night in LA and a second show added for a packed house at Bardot on a Monday, it’s safe to say that America is catching the drift as well. We got the chance to talk to RÜFÜS in between their crazy schedule at SXSW and got some insight into what it’s like leaving Australia, how they came to be, and what it’s like to have their debut LP signed to Columbia Records. Australian indie-dancers, RÜFÜS DU SOL (formerly RÜFÜS), have announced their first US headline tour today, much to the enjoyment of many here at GDD. After releasing the incredible debut album, Atlas, last year, the trio have really set themselves apart as real players in the indie/dance crossover market, as evident in this 15+ date tour of America with invitations to both SxSW and Miami in March.
Preceding the momentous jaunt of North America is a new EP from the guys out today on a favorite imprint of ours here at GDD, Sweat It Out! 4 tracks comprise the Desert Night EP, with two originals from RDS and a pair of remixes from two producers who are absolutely nailing it at the moment, Symbols boss Kastle and WeDidIt’s Groundislava.
Preview Kastle’s dark, Garage-esque take of the title track, “Desert Night,” below and click the jump button for all of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s March tour dates.

Australia’s RÜFÜS have released a preview for the first single off their upcoming debut record, ATLAS, packed with all the essential down under vibes that have boosted their name into the dance music scene. If this jazzy driving dance tune is any indication as to what the finished album will sound like, the sounds of summer will be bottled up perfectly in 11 track fashion. For those who want more than just the anticipatory snippet, “Sundream” is available in it’s entirety for those who pre-order their freshmen LP on iTunes although the U.S. store does not currently carry the project yet.
Hot on the heels of one of the hottest dance tracks of the moment, “Desert Night”, RÜFÜS unleashes a heavy cargo of remixes featuring a who’s who of proper House producers. With five sure fire remixes by Jesse Rose, Motez, Victor Lassance, James Curd & Avon Stringer, you’ll have no problem shifting the mood to whatever is feelin’ right. The “Desert Night” remixes have got you covered.
“Desert Night” is available on iTunes June 21st (Pre order HERE). “Desert Night” is the 2nd single from ATLAS, the debut album from RÜFÜS. Available in Australia August 9th on Sweat it Out.
My good friend aRod and I have selected 10 tunes this week for your listening pleasure. We went pretty eclectic as per usual with any Dirt, so download them individually or download both zips for the whole enchilada. Happy Dirt day folks.

Australian artists RÜFÜS had a big year in 2012 and have been hard at work completing their debut album to ensure that 2013 will be an even bigger year for them. The first track off the newly completed album is entitled “Take Me”, with fellow country mate Cassian on remix duty. Deep indie dance vibes + soaring vocals create a sweeping soundscape sure to glide effortlessly across many dance floors in Australia and beyond.
CMJ rolled through town last weekend and we got a taste of almost everything the city-wide festival had to offer. However, one showcase in particular rose above the others in a party I soon won’t forget….
