Local Venice producer Ruff Hauser dropped a bomb of an EP yesterday. The whole package consists of three originals and a bonus download remix of “Gotta Get Thru This.” All of the tracks are bass house club killers, utilizing super high energy bass lines and tech influenced percussion and sampling. The production value in all of these tracks really speaks volumes about Ruff Hauser, a guy who I can see getting huge in 2015. Grab the EP on Beatport and snag the bonus free download here for your efforts!

LA’s Ruff Hauser has been pushing the boundaries of bass music for over a decade now, and today he launches the debut release of his new Cats & Boots imprint with his Rotate Them Hips EP. His booty-tech monster was doing the rounds with DJs from the dirtybird and Anabatic camps before he assembled a top-shelf crew to remix the track that includes Mark Starr, Troy Kurtz, Roy Wilkins, Ghostea, and Perfect Driver. Having already been played on both BBC1 and Rinse FM prior to the release, there’s a fair bit of hype around the package, and we’re excited about the prospects of another rising music label for the West Coast. You can pick up the release now on Beatport.
The rising Los Angeles-based duo, Casino Gold, has released the excellent remix pack for their feel-good house anthem, “All I Need,” via Perfect Driver Music. Kicking off the package, our own Troy Kurtz gives us a striking deep house floor filler led by a huge, driving bassline paired with percussive/vocal accents. Ruff Hauser follows suit with a stand-out bass-heavy remix that incorporates an unexpected half-time breakdown, while Evil Twin offers up a piano-laden house groover. The Perfect Driver label head, Matthew Anthony, then closes out the pack in proper form with a more experimental interpretation that features unique synth work over up-tempo tribal rhythms. With these brilliant renditions, Casino Gold successfully revitalizes “All I Need,” just in time for Miami. Purchase the remix pack on Beatport.

2013 is shaping up to be a prospering year for 808s and ‘booty-tech’ basslines.
