Thee Mike B and DJ Morse Code are two paradise-loving DJs that created Pools (not to be confused with Poolside) to make music that will take you back to the glory days of lounging in the sun with not a care in the world besides what your next drink will be. This is my latest addition to the smooth jams playlist that I started a couple weeks ago, inspired by the selections of aRod. Make a playlist for yourself and start it with this edit!

She – Easy Money (Pools Edit)

Toks

As the seasons are slowly shifting, the music follows suit.  Light and cheerful riffs are slowly paving the way for deeper disco sounds.  Sounds that will resonate throughout a nighttime hideout and keep the kids dancing.  Steel drums and synths are still there, just down-tempo and with a heavier groove.  Peel the paint off the walls and lets boogey.

Poolside have officially become the Guns N’ Roses of the mixtape world.  Not since Fall of 1991, when Guns N’ Roses simultaneously released “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusion II”, has a band so ambitiously (and successfully) pulled off two releases at once.  With the release of their two part “Day & Night” Mixtape, Poolside have done it.  Every Summer mixtape out there claims to be the soundtrack to the season.  But nobody has your Summertime covered, daytime AND nighttime, like Poolside does (Plus, their name is Poolside…you can’t really out-Summer that).

As we wish the boys from Poolside some GN’R-like success during their breakout Summer of 2011, let’s hope Filip & Jeffrey don’t go off on any mezcal fueled tirades towards each other & break-up during the height of their breakthrough, a la Axl & Slash.

Be sure to catch Poolside at Pacific Festival on August 13th!

ATTENTION ALL DIRTY DANCERS OF THE SUMMER!

This year we are amped to be joining forces once again with our good buddies in Collaborative Media and Dim Mak to bring you the 2011 Pacific Festival in Orange County. The makings of the answer to a ‘SoCal Outsidelands’, the Pacific Festival is putting together the perfect balance of summer music now in a proper location for all festival-goers. With a relocated festival site to Oak Canyon Ranch (recent location of Lightning In A Bottle) and a full day of music starting @ 10am, this year’s Pacific Fest is gonna show off the true summer festival atmosphere in its deserved setting. Getting a huge boost from last year, the 2011 lineup is staggering (Just find your favorite groove makers below):
