The LA-based live indie-electronic act, YNGCULT, may be brand new to the scene, but they showcase a matured and developed sound with their unmistakable, soulful music. After releasing a pair of singles off of their forthcoming Capitøll EP (after the jump), and crushing their debut gig at the historic LA venue, The Mint, they deliver an outstanding Coachella mix that not only features tasteful selections from the festival’s performers, but also a handful of their own distinctive originals and an unreleased remix. Whether you went to the festival or not, this YNGCULT mix will conveniently bring the Coachella vibe through your speakers. Keep tabs on YNGCULT and mark your calendars for their Capitøll EP that’s set for release next Tuesday, April 22nd.

Splash House is an all-new, multi-venue pool party happening next Saturday and Sunday out in bright and sunny Palm Springs. Our friends from Private Label, LED, and Pacific Festival have curated a fantastic 2-day lineup with stages at the Saguaro, Curve, and Caliente Tropics hotels, featuring some of the best names in poolside tunes including Classixx, Bag Raiders, Eats Everything, and yes, Poolside. In honor of this event, we’ve teamed up once again with our friends at TAVIK to give away TWO packages for one guy and one girl, with tickets, t-shirts, swimwear, and more. For this week’s Artist Collab series for The Dirt, I’m very excited to be teaming up with one of the baddest DJs on the planet, Anna Lunoe. Along with her sorcery on the decks, Anna is a phenomenal producer, she has serious remix game, her apparel line rocks, she kills it all across social media & pretty much dominates at life.
Check out Anna’s picks of some of her hottest tunes of the moment and what she has to say about them. Together we bring you a 10-pack of ultra cool, hot new jams, a handful of which you can grab for FREE!
I dare anyone to find a more perfect fit between past + present than Poolside’s rework of “Planet Caravan” by Black Sabbath. Sabbath’s beautifully haunting 1970s classic gets a psychedelic re-work from daytime disco masters Poolside and the result is absolute perfection.
“We sail through endless skies
Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs
The moon in silver trees
Falls down in tears
Light of the night
The earth, a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze
In orbit always
While down below the trees
Bathed in cool breeze
Silver starlight breaks down the night
And so we pass on by the crimson eye
Of great god mars
As we travel the universe”
Our good friends, Poolside, have bestowed a warm, slow-burning mix, perfect for the holidays and cold nights. In their own words: “Seasons Change is a new mix for crisp Autumn days as Winter approaches and the evenings get shorter and shorter. It’s a collection of melancholy tunes we put together while driving through the Northeastern States this past October to fit the moods that come with the changing of the seasons.” Enjoi!
Ghostly‘s Matthew Dear will be releasing his 4th studio album, Beams, worldwide on August 27th, and while we wait for the 11-track full length recorded in Dear’s home studio, we receive a gift in the form of a Poolside remix of the single, “Her Fantasy,” which sits #1 in the tracklist of the album. As with many Poolside jams, this remix of “Her Fantasy” is mellow, smoothly vocal, and laden with tropical, wooden percussion. Dig it. Continue Reading
Tomorrow is the 4th of July here in the US, which means pool parties, beach days, and backyard BBQs — all of which require great music to make it a great holiday. Coincidentally, the Londoner, Mighty Mouse, just sent over his July mixtape and it has the perfect playlist for at least one hour and ten minutes of your festivities tomorrow if you’re here in America. If not, well, it’s just a good summer mix to add to the collection. He’s included all sorts of goodies from Poolside, Auxiliary tha Masterfader, Gigamesh, Digitalism, and more. Our boys at Poolside released a new track today and in it lies a message; a life lesson which we shall heretofore abide by during this upcoming Summer season: “Slow Down”.
Don’t move so fast
Let this feeling last
The starlight will guide us through the night”
Words to live by. Cheers, gents…
