Maybe it was all the great bands at Coachella this past weekend, or maybe it’s the sweltering heat that’s found its way back to Southern California but by golly gosh it’s getting too damn hot for house music. We’ve decided to beat the heat with an early Summer edition of our Too Hot 4 House Music series featuring plenty of indie, alternative, rock, and some blues to keep you feeling cool and collected. Big ups to SoCal’s own Burger Records for some strong recent releases and shoutout to Black Pistol Fire and Dreaming Bull for tracks that have stood the test of time. The second half settles more in the indie, folk, singer/songwriter realm with additions from City & Colour, RY X, and Julien Baker as well as some R&B from JMSN and rising star Anderson Paak.
With Coachella weekend in the crosshairs, we’ve compiled a 35 track playlist highlighting a lot of the acts that’ve got us rearin’ to go. Fans of hip-hop, indie, rock, pop, house, and techno, rejoice as we do our best to cover all the bases in this behemoth of a Spotify playlist. Put your hair down, enjoy the vibes, and get ready for the ride of your life. Catch us on the polo fields wildin’ out like the kooks that we are and remember to take care of yourself and look after one another, and most importantly; DRINK MORE WATER!

The Venezuelan duo Fur Coat have spent the last few years climbing the rungs of the underground ladder and are firmly planted at the top. Since the release of their 2012 anthem ‘You & I‘, the duo has shifted gears from sing-along deep house tunes to chugging, techno burners as reflected by their most recent Crosstown Rebels release, U Turn. After a strong summer touring clubs like DC10 in Ibiza and Treehouse in Miami, Fur Coat gave our friends over at Boomrat an inside look into their secret weapons. Stream the entire playlist below.
