Back in June, The Magician announced that he would be taking a three month break from putting out any Magic Tapes, much to the dismay of his loyal fans. And much to their delight, The Magician returned last week with Magic Tape Twenty-Five. The anticipation was high for the new mixtape and The Magish couldn’t have picked a better tune to kick off the highly anticipated mix than the Amine Edge & DANCE remix of “Things I Didn’t Know I Loved” by our boy Felix aka Plastic Plates. The crisp, dark groove + haunting vocals not only set the tone of the mixtape, they’re also a perfect indicator that a new equinox is upon us.

Remember this one from many Magic Tapes ago? Bet your ass you do. It was part of what many call their favorite all time Magic Tape, The Magician’sMagic Tape Eighteen. The Magish started things off in the best possible way with “Running Back to You” by Perseus and then kicked things into gear with tracks like “At Night” by Chris Malinchak, “Dirty Talk” by Oliver, an unnamed Gigamesh demo (which turned out to be “Your Body”) and this fantastic remix of Sneaky Sound System’s “Friends” by our boy Felix, aka Plastic Plates. Killer Magic Tape. Mr. Plastic Plates decided to do the world a solid and upload the track onto his SoundCloud. Enjoy that deep boogie…

As the seasons are slowly shifting, the music follows suit. Light and cheerful riffs are slowly paving the way for deeper disco sounds. Sounds that will resonate throughout a nighttime hideout and keep the kids dancing. Steel drums and synths are still there, just down-tempo and with a heavier groove. Peel the paint off the walls and lets boogey.
“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”
