It’s been a journey. Since its inception in the summer of 2010, our longest lasting weekly feature, The Dirt, has brought a staggering amount of free music to the masses, and we’re proud to still be here 100 editions and 100 Dirt Babes in the books. It’s a tough feat to get these tracks together each week (probably why we have some gaps in the mix here and there, apologies), but it’s been an amazing experience sharing music with all of you, which, of course, is the main reason why we’re here.

We wanted to put together something special for the centennial episode, so 11 of our writers have included 2 songs each — one from one of the 99 past Dirts that we’ve posted and any other song that we felt was exceptional enough to make the cut of such an outstanding post. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed putting them together. Here’s to another 100. Continue Reading

The Presets get the Nu-Disco Treatment

Gotta Dance Dirty favorite Plastic Plates is back again. This time he puts his magic touch on The Presets  song “Promises” from their newest album Pacifica (Available Now). He carefully adds in that characteristic touch of indie dance & nu-disco keyboard that he is famous for.

It is definitely one of those tracks you cannot pass up on. It will be released on December 7th on Modular Records. I highly suggest you pick it up.

Fun Fact

Felix Bloxsom (Plastic Plates) used to be the drummer for The Presets for a short time in a early 3 man incarnation of the band.

Melbourne-based Indie Synthpoppers, Strange Talk, released the first single, “Cast Away,” last month from their forthcoming debut album due out in 2013, and the band has commissioned our mate Plastic Plates for a fantastic remix that stays true to the catchy vocals of the original while adding a healthy amount of Tropical vibes and funktastic bassline. Strange Talk will also be playing a string of dates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York this month, so make sure to read on after the jump for more info on show dates. √+

Back in June, The Magician announced that he would be taking a three month break from putting out any Magic Tapes, much to the dismay of his loyal fans.  And much to their delight, The Magician returned last week with Magic Tape Twenty-Five.  The anticipation was high for the new mixtape and The Magish couldn’t have picked a better tune to kick off the highly anticipated mix than the Amine Edge & DANCE remix of “Things I Didn’t Know I Loved” by our boy Felix aka Plastic Plates.  The crisp, dark groove + haunting vocals not only set the tone of the mixtape, they’re also a perfect indicator that a new equinox is upon us.
