For this special 139th edition of The Dirt, we’ve teamed up with our homies, the Bixel Boys, who are quickly establishing themselves as ambassadors of the big-room underground sound. With their widely supported Black December EP (Sweat It Out!), recent Bring It On EP (Nervous Records), handful of addictive remixes/edits, and countless gigs in the bag, their career is gaining strong momentum that is sure to ride into 2014 and the many years to come. The Bixel Boys and myself have offered up our current favorite tracks touching on hip-hop, house, future bass, and more. ENJOY!

While it’s tough to beat the Breakbot remix of Phoenix‘s second single from their new album, Bankrupt!, this new one from Edwin Van Cleef sure puts up a fight. Adding in a rolling bassline and some actual ocean wave samples, Edwin Van Cleef provides another rendition of the popular tune to play out at your next sunny daytime event. Download below.

Dirt 120 Troy Kurtz Burn Unit

Apologies for the hiatus, friends. Last week that evil siren Vegas clutched the GDD™ crew tightly in her grasp and forbade us from blessing your ears with that week’s dosage of The Dirt. Alas, here we go, with ten tracks curated by our own Troy Kurtz & Burn Unit, fresh off two killer sets aboard the GDD™ Presents: Wide Awake Art Car Stage at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas. Get it into you.

Check out Anna’s picks of some of her hottest tunes of the moment and what she has to say about them.  Together we bring you a 10-pack of ultra cool, hot new jams, a handful of which you can grab for FREE!

Sweet, Sweet, disco nectar delivered strait to your door. This sun-kissed ultra funky mix mutates & cultivates the vibes of Tropicool‘s essence in the South Bay. Everything is in full bloom, the birds, bees, and the myrts feel it.  The sand is warm and the micheladas are frosty.  Poseidon is holding a conch shell to his ear, and the vibration station is starting to reverberate.  Perv and swerve, because for this one, you’re meant to loose control while on cruise control.

It’s been a journey. Since its inception in the summer of 2010, our longest lasting weekly feature, The Dirt, has brought a staggering amount of free music to the masses, and we’re proud to still be here 100 editions and 100 Dirt Babes in the books. It’s a tough feat to get these tracks together each week (probably why we have some gaps in the mix here and there, apologies), but it’s been an amazing experience sharing music with all of you, which, of course, is the main reason why we’re here.

We wanted to put together something special for the centennial episode, so 11 of our writers have included 2 songs each — one from one of the 99 past Dirts that we’ve posted and any other song that we felt was exceptional enough to make the cut of such an outstanding post. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed putting them together. Here’s to another 100. Continue Reading

Happy New Year!

aRod + KMOC

More times than not, my friends that don’t live in Miami think that this place is some sort of electronic music mecca; a city that pushes that boundaries of our favorite music. But when your only visit to Miami comes during WMC, its easy to forget that the Jersey Shore, Ed Hardy, bottle sale douchebaggery of Miami runs rampant the other 360 days of the year. The causeways separating South Beach from Downtown do a relatively good job of keeping the trash on the beach, but tourists and locals alike are drawn to the spectacle of the big money venues along Washington Ave, however, music formats are dictated by radio stations, because when you just spent $2000 on a table, you definitely want to hear LMFAO, right? Which is why OVERTHROW has been trying for two years now to bridge the gap; bringing the music we dearly love so much to the ears of the Snookies, Situations, and wannabe Kardashians. Our newest venture is a party called Coco’s Habit every Thursday, which is located at Coco de Ville, a speak-easy lounge in the Gansevoort Hotel. Pirate Stereo and myself are the resident DJs, and we pretty much have the freedom to play whatever we want. He and I both made little promo mixes for the night for your listening pleasure, so if you live in Miami, come by and give us a hello.
