IT’S ANOTHER ROUND OF THE DIRT, HAAAAAAAAAAAAN! A DAY LATE FOR Y’ALLS LONG WEEKEND! *AIRHORN*
In true-to-form fashion, I went a little ham on the R&B influences and remixes… there’s a lot of good stuff circulating right now and whilst still full of summer-driven high serotonin levels I’m basically only listening to stuff that I can sing/rap along to or dance to… or both. There’s a good sprinkling of emotion and a touch of acid just to round it off. Can’t be on one all the time you know. Also I think the median age for the remixers/producers on these tracks is around 20 which means A. I’m getting old and B. college-level guys are way more into Amerie and Ciara (publicly) than I remember.
My good bud Burn Unit really vibing off the British & American producers and vibes, lots of feel-good stuff in his picks from quite a few budding producers.
You can of course download each individual track via Soundcloud but each of us have zipped our selections up for you for easy download purposes. Trust us. – Laura

Oh boy I am very excited about the guest mix this week. One of my latest and most exciting discoveries is young French beat boy Phazz, and in this fine week of July he’s handed over an absolutely wonderful exclusive guest mix to us. Chock full of exclusives, intelligent re-works, and various unique up-and-comers, the mix explores the beat-based jambalaya of everything from jazz, R&B, and club influences and beyond. I see huge amounts of potential in Phazz, his work with vocal-pitching on remixes of Ryan Leslie and Cassie is really astounding and the direction he’s been taking as of late has a huge appeal.
You can stream and download his mix via our Soundcloud, and check out the tracklist and our interview with him after the jump. I predict big things from Phazz, really excited to see what’s next!
Phazz is my favorite new discovery. After hearing a very awesome mix from Soulection’s Sasha Marie, I noticed that his tracks within the mix were the ones that stood out to me. He’s got a real aptitude for warping and pitch-shifting vocals, it’s not an easy task but he pulls it off almost effortlessly. I’m very glad he’s sort of re-routed himself into a more soulful R&B vibe, his latest remixes are (in my opinion) his best work and should that trajectory continue I am very excited by what dude has to offer in the future. You can grab his most recent remix, a wonderful remix of Ryan Leslie’s “Addiction” for free on the Soundcloud box below. Oh, and stay tuned for an upcoming exclusive from Phazz right here on GDD
