After becoming the most talked about party in Los Angeles, AC Slater‘s NIGHT BASS movement set out on a 12 dates in 12 days tour with bass house heavyweights Jack Beats, Hannah Wants, Kry Wolf and the man himself. The tour was a success in every city they invaded, but something special was planned for its LA date this past Friday, October 10th. AC Slater teamed up with HARD to bring together one massive event in the warehouse district of downtown Los Angeles, where the infamous Lot 613 was set to play home to the festivities. With the help of Gary Richards and the HARD team, NIGHT BASS quickly became the hype of the weekend and sold out before the night even started.

Room 1 featured the tour lineup, along with NIGHT BASS residents BONES & Petey Clicks. They got things started quickly, as the room filled up and packed out within the first hour. The much anticipated Hannah Wants came after with a huge set, followed by the chief AC Slater bringing it heavy and Jack Beats keeping the energy so alive it was literally spilling out of the room. Capping off the night was a secret set from Kry Wolf, who let his jackin vibes speak for themselves as the night went into the early morning.

Along with the tour lineup, AC brought in friends to take care of room 2: Anna Lunoe, Treasure Fingers, Amtrac, Light Year and Jen Lasher to the rescue. Room 2 was equally slammed, a wider room layout but just as crazy as it’s heavier neighbor. Only in LA can so many incredible artists happen to be in the same town on multiple tour schedules that culminate to one massive experience. The hype was so real that other big names in dance music couldn’t stay away. The likes of Boys Noize, Nadastrom, Kaskade, GTA, Destructo, Jauz, Brazzabelle, and even Valentino Khan‘s mustache we’re all in attendance.

The NIGHT BASS movement proved that it’s hear to stay, and its home is in Los Angeles. The tour dominated its 12 show routing across the US, and looks forward to continuing its monthly series here in LA along with new tours and festival stages in the works… be on the lookout for live set recordings from the whole night and more info on upcoming events!

We’re seeing double vision on this Monday… last week we featured the NIGHT BASS native Petey Clicks‘ latest release on Party Like Us called “BAE”, and this week we kick things off with the exclusive premiere of his B-side to the EP “DO U”. Like his high energy sets, this tracks dances along a bassline and sends you into a spiral of jackin garage. The EP is already doing wonders with familiar faces, gaining heavy support and praise from the likes of Anna Lunoe, 12th Planet, Motez, The Bloody Beetroots, Herve, Sinden and many more. Listen below, and grab it tomorrow on Party Like Us!

Virginia-bred and LA-based Petey Clicks has been on a tear since stepping out as a solo act. Signed to AC Slater‘s Party Like Us Records, Petey has been producing some bass nasty heat and continues to cross genre barriers like a BAWSE.

With “BAE”, the title track for his forthcoming EP, we hear a fresh chord progression, accented with some playful vox – all bundled together to make one solid, summer-toned bass tuneage.

BAE is out August 12th on Party Like Us Records. Listen to it here.

We were extremely excited to have DJ EZ  at #NIGHTBASS to play his first USA gig ever, and he delivered beyond anything we could have imagined. The club was packed and the vibes were through the roof! He was joined by AC SLATER, Trouble & Bass queen STAR EYES, and a special B2B set from BONES & PETEY CLICKS.

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Grenier at one of my favorite local spots Forage for a little food and friendly discussion. What I think both of us anticipated was a brief discussion about his upcoming projects, but what ended up happening was a close to hour long conversation about creativity and the state of music. I left feeling the opposite of disappointed… sure I was like 30 minutes late to my next thing but the topics we discussed was something I felt needed to be expressed. So instead of a carefully edited, introspective piece from me that took days to organize and edit down, below you’ll find an honest conversation between myself and a musician who’s very clearly spent a lot of time not only working with others but also thinking about how to work in new ways.

This all came about by the premiere of his stunning music video for “Intentions,” which came out on Symbols last year. You can watch the video below but I highly suggest clicking after the jump to read about Grenier’s multitude of new projects, including ones with Archie Pelago, Eprom & Hejfund, and The Glitch Mob. I’d love to see others’ opinions on the rest of this, perhaps open some insightful discussions.
