Pete Tong & BBC Radio 1 aren’t wasting any time in bringing their legendary broadcasts stateside. First, it was the announcement of a special Essential Mix show featuring Richie Hawtin at Exchange LA on January 22nd, and now Pete is set to broadcast his Friday night show from LA and Miami rooftops in the coming months. For the first broadcast in Los Angeles on January 22nd (10pm-1am UK time, 2-5pm LA time), Pete will be be hosting his show on a rooftop in West Hollywood with gorgeous views of downtown LA, which is the perfect venue for a show that will reflect on the local electronic scene. To sweeten the deal, Pete even invited some special guests to perform, including Eric Prydz, MK (with a special guest), Claude VonStroke, and Richie Hawtin will also be stopping by. More names are expected to be announced during Pete’s Radio 1 show this Friday (1/15).
Part two of Pete’s American broadcast will continue on March 18th during Miami Music Week, and he’ll be accompanied by Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Danny Howard for the special broadcast, as well as some of the biggest names in dance music. Stay tuned to BBC Radio 1 for more details to come.
“I’m very excited about my show coming live from LA on Jan 22nd. Los Angeles has become a creative hub for electronic artists from all over the world during the past few years and California and Las Vegas a hot bed of ground breaking festivals and some of the world’s leading clubs. Bringing the show out of Hollywood and being able to reflect some of the exciting things going on is a great way to start the year.” – Pete Tong
2015 for Justin Jay has been one for the ages, and he’s rolling on into the last quarter of the year with the wind at his back. Just last Friday, the LA-based producer/DJ took over the BBC Radio 1 airwaves with an after hours mix feature on Pete Tong’s show, which followed the slot helmed by VIVa Music’s Steve Lawler. Throughout the year, Justin has been teasing his new project, Justin Jay & Friends, so not surprisingly, he decided to include a few new unreleased tracks, amongst an array of groovy jams from the likes of Catz ‘N Dogz, Adriatique, Dimitri From Paris, Aroop Roy, and more. Definitely let this mix carry you into the weekend, and if you haven’t been able to catch Justin on his Mom, I Graduated! World Tour, see when he’s coming to a city near you here.

The deep sounds of Copenhagen’s KANT have landed our favorite remix on Blonde‘s new Higher Ground EP. The uplifting melodic original has summer written all over it, but KANT’s version unleashes all the feels – so much that it landed ‘Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune’ this month on BBC Radio 1. If you don’t already know his production, this track is like the the lovechild of Mark Knight and The Magician. Listen below, and grab it when itdrops on August 3rd.
A mysterious track has surfaced on Spinnin Records soundcloud – a live rip from the recent Glastonbury festival where BBC Radio 1 bosses Pete Tong and Annie Mac did a special b2b set. Who do you think it is? The title font looks familiar…
It doesn’t seem like long ago the veiled producer Zhu surfaced on the web (4 months ago to be exact) and had the net buzzing about his “Moves Like Ms. Jackson” remix, but a lot has been accomplished since then. With four more originals added to his roster, including his recent hit (named Essential New Tune by Pete Tong) titled, “ Faded.” Now, though, the time has come for others to take on the fruits of his labor as official remixes begin to take shape on SoundCloud.
