You know it’s going to be an interesting day when you wake up to the sight of 6:45 am on the clock and you’re exhausted from partying to the sounds of SBTRKT, Laidback Luke, 2manydjs, Fatboy Slim, and Rusko the night before at HARD Haunted Mansion. Early last Saturday morning, my friends and I made our way back to the west side from downtown LA, only to rest and prepare for our journey inland to Insomniac’s first Halloween massive, Escape From Wonderland. See what it was all about after the jump…

The time has finally come. GDD™ and DANCEiSM have teamed up to bring a weekly electronic party to the West Side of Los Angeles in 2011. For those of you who missed it, we threw a VS. preview party back in November with Ooah (The Glitch Mob), Peacetreaty, Mr. White, ///BONES, and Kenya, and after hearing such supportive responses about the venue, music selection, and overall experience, we have decided to make The Central in Santa Monica our new home on Thursdays this year. This Thursday will be the launch of VS., and we have called upon friends to come out and DJ our first party with us. We’ll have DJs from Shifty Rhythms, Uh Oh Disco, GDD™, and DANCEiSM on hand for some great tunage, so please come out to support the birth of a new, West Side party that will hopefully bring new life to the Los Angeles electronic scene. We are extremely excited about this new venture, and we hope that you all come out and show us the amazing, continued support + love you’ve had for GDD™ in the past years. Here’s to 2011!

Statelapse (aka Luke Fenn and Leigh Shields) are a dubstep duo reigning from Huddersfield, UK. Luke and Leigh first met in 2007 and quickly formed a strong bond over music. They began their musical journey producing Drum and Bass and were signed by Wreked Records in 2008. Although they both had a strong passion for Drum and Bass they soon made the switch to dubstep in 2009.

Statelapse’s music can be described in many ways: dirty, evil, massive, dark, gritty, grimy…you get the point. Essentially, these two dubstep wizards pump out some gnarly stuff.

But as I always say, don’t take it from me…grab these tunes and get ready to ice your neck.

TRE

I’ll make this quick. Just a quartet of remixes that I thought I needed to share with you guys this week. Get your hump day dance moves on.

A fantastic fidget house remix of the widely acclaimed release from Pendulum. Keep your eye out for Coucheron in 2011. This 16 year old phenom from Norway has produced tracks across all sub-genres of electronic music, and his talent shines through brightly in this remix.
Another great production from Clockwork. His crunchy, grungy basslines are giving him a lot of recent attention from the electro world.
The names involved speak for themselves here. A very big release from BNR records this month. Thx to TCK for getting this up first.
A groovy track to sit in the sun and absorb some heat. Can’t ever go wrong with some sexy saxophone from Tensnake, who is commencing his North American tour this week with a stop in LA at A Club Called Rhonda this Saturday!
