Ministry of Sound has teamed up with Defected Records to re-release Oliver $ & Jimi Jules‘ spring smash, “Pushing On,” which has been ubiquitous since its March release — sitting snugly in Beatport’s #1 spot for a nice while in addition to massive Radio 1 support and a proper rinsing at clubs everywhere in Ibiza and beyond.
And speaking of Ibiza, Made To Play/Play It Down boss, Jesse Rose, has put together a lovely “Live from the Villa” remix to coincide with MoS’ August 31st release, equipped with a dramatic intro and a classic piano-based groove that easily transports the listener poolside on some sunny Balearic island. Have a listen to Jesse’s top notch remix below. √+

My personal one to watch for this year is on a warpath of production and his newest creation doesn’t stray from that truth. The mysterious Parisian known as Tchami has spread his viral sound this year into some huge originals and remixes for the likes of Mercer, AlunaGeorge, Oliver and more. Today he dropped a preview to his forthcoming original “Untrue” and it is on another level of feels. I’ll just stop talking and you can just listen below…
WMC – Don’t miss Tchami @ HARD Miami!
Chic feat. Nile Rogers, Giorgio Moroder, Tensnake, Oliver, and Destructo. Woah. The biggest names in Disco from the past two decades all in one sentence, all on one bill, this coming May, as presented by HARD. With their Dischoteque stage in recent years, HARD has given the nod to the timeless genre on multiple occasions, but this time they give it the spotlight for what is sure to be a transcendent timeline of Disco’s existence in the modern dance music industry. On one hand you have the men who have virtually given birth to the movement, men who have worked with the legends your parents used to get down to. Then on the other, the producers who have/are keeping the genre alive in it’s current state. You have the chance to hear history unfold, a chance to understand an idea that has managed to keep it’s footing all this time. Continue Reading

Coming off a huge tour w/ Zedd and Alex Metric, the LA rising duo Oliver follow up their finely tuned Mechanical EP with an all-star remix collection that casts their already-diverse originals in a stunning new light. Kicking off with a stomping, fan favorite mix of “Night Is On My Mind” by festival king Dillon Francis, Mechanical Remixes kicks into even higher gear with Nom De Strip‘s big room take on “Control,” before pulling a moody left turn with Tchami‘s bouncing funky house version of “MYB,” and closing out strong with a high energy remix of “Mechanical” by new young producer Values. Machine music on all levels!

Oliver made their Fool’s Gold Records debut back in January with the 4-track EP, Mechanical, which truly illuminated the diversity of the duo’s production. Not to be labeled as Nu Disco DJs, Oliver included the late-night, 100BPM mover, “Night Is On My Mind,” on the release, featuring pitched down vocals and a heaviness that many would deem somewhat uncharacteristic of the talented producers. Over 6 months later, the tune has been given a video treatment, and I must say, it’s absolutely brilliant. I’ll give you a few keywords that should tickle your fancy — LA Gear, mobile rave station, blonde in heels, and ass. √+ (obviously)
From living with no hot water or cell phone after a commercially unsuccessful first album to being named Rolling Stone’s “Best Secret Weapon” in 2011, writing eight #1 singles in the year alone, Bonnie McKee‘s career appears to be taking on new direction. As she bursts into the pop music scene for round two, business mixes with pleasure as her boyfriend Oligee (1/2 of Oliver) teams up with his musical other half, U-Tern, to remix her hit single, “American Girl.” The product of this talented power couple is a club anthem set to have you shuffling at the dance breaks and belting the lyrics when the chorus hits. The original by McKee is available to purchase on iTunes.
