midnight shift

There are certain artists, past and present, who I will always be on board with no matter what their involvement is in a project.  One past artist who I am always on board with and one current artist who I am always on board with both happen to be present on Gomma Records’ latest release.  When I found out that Nancy Whang would be reworking Donna Summer, excitement levels were high.  “Working The Midnight Shift” is thought of as one of Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder’s finest collaborations.  The updated version of the track gets a fantastic vocal revamp by Ms. Whang.  She teamed up with dynamite producer Bonar Bradberry (one half of PBR Streetgang) to bring a polished, cosmic & energetic sound to the 1977 classic that Donna Summer herself would have been proud of.

“Working The Midnight Shift” is out May 16th via Gomma.

One of my personal favorites from Classixx‘s debut album, Hanging Gardens, has received the video treatment today, featuring a posh, nautical setting with Ms. Whang exemplifying all that is luxurious. Also included in the video produced by Urban Outfitters is a hilarious cameo from Tyler and Mike where they come into contact with the fabulous Nancy under the boat deck. Give it a watch!

May 14th is nearly here — the day that Classixx‘s long-awaited debut album will see release on Los Angeles-based imprint, Innovative Leisure. After receiving substantial acclaim for the first album single, ‘Holding On,’ Tyler and Mikey are back with the second single from the album, calling upon Nancy Whang (formerly of LCD Soundsystem) for a Pop-Funk original laden with dreamy vocals. ‘All You’re Waiting For’ along with the rest of the album will be available 3 weeks from today.
