Flat Beat Aaron Snapes

Back again to hit you off with yet another tune getting heavy support from the dirtybird Records fam and more, this one has been a staple in the sets of everyone from Claude VonStroke to Flux Pavilion to Justin Jay recently.

Mr. Oizo’s seminal 1999 dance music anthem, Flat Beat, perked up the ears of an entire generation of talented young musicians to the sounds of Electro House. The track was made viral before viral existed by a clever Levi’s marketing campaign and a all-time classic music video featuring the above pictured Flat Eric (partaking in some nefarious activities GDD™ does not condone). Usually I’d recommend against tampering with such a well-known and universally beloved song, but the Leeds-based dynamo Aaron Snapes took a crack at this one and absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Our friends at HARD are putting on one hell of a stage this August at HARD Summer here in Los Angeles — celebrating a decade of music from the lauded Ed Banger family with performances from Justice, Busy P, Breakbot, Feadz, Mr. Oizo, So Me, and more for the only US performance of the 10 Year Anniversary World Tour. WOW.

HAPPY 30th!

[PIAS] Recordings had humble beginnings. Founders Kenny Gates and Michael Lambot established [PIAS] as a distribution company in Brussels in 1982 before expanding that business into a record label of the same name. Years went by, and more and more music was released and distributed by the company, including an impressive and eclectic roster of talent — Soulwax, Grace Jones, Mr. Oizo, Dinosaur Jr., Royksopp, and many, many more.

To celebrate this milestone, [PIAS] will be giving away heaps of exclusive, unreleased, unheard content from their roster over the past 3 decades, and today, we’re happy to be a part of the celebration as we give away a new, exclusive remix from Frenchman, Vitalic.

Vitalic celebrates with a mix!

The infamous Marble co-owner, Para One, just unleashed his newest sounds with the release of his new EP, Mother.  The EP’s title track delivers those specific elements that you have come to expect from Para One; Electro cuts fused with carefully sequenced percussion, unexpectedly brilliant sudden effects and a strong digital bite.  The Mr. Oizo remix slows things down but turns the dark and dirty up, adding a new, welcomed spin to the original.  Finally, Compute (featuring Surkin) paints a dark digital portrait with Electro elements, well-placed samples, intricate percussion and brilliant change-ups that leave you screaming for more.

What’s up my fellow dirty dancers, I hope your weekend is treating you as well as it is treating me.  This has been a great week in music, whether your in Miami or not (and if you are, I want you to know I hate you a little bit).  Anyways, I was very honored when FuzZ, Avedon and Zedex all decided to contribute to this weeks dirt! From complex IDM to French House, the three artists certainly differ in their sound, but not their unmistakable talent.  With a wide range of songs to choose from on this weeks dirt, there is certainly something for all of you.  So without further ado, myself, Fuzz, Avedon and Zedex present this week’s dirt after the jump!

*Check out the exclusive tracks from Fuzz, Zedex & St. Andrew!

He’s baaaaaack. Flat Beater and Ed Banger honcho Mr. Oizo will be making a triumphant return to CONTROL this Friday, most likely looking fly as ever with his bushy beard and tucked-in striped shirt into jeans. At his last Avalon appearance, when asked what he’d like for his hospitality rider, Quentin said in a majestically pompous tone, “I only drink champagne.” Now, if that doesn’t make you want to party with him, why not throw the well-endowed Motley Crue rockstar, Tommy Lee, into the mix. And then just for good measure, let’s get Simma Records boss Will Bailey in there for some serious poundage. Yes. Say yes.

Please RSVP names to JONAH@GOTTADANCEDIRTY.COM to be on our discount ticket guestlist for the evening. All names must be submitted before 5:30PM on Friday night.
