Who is Morten Breum?
One of Denmark’s top DJs and recent Los Angeles transplant, Morten Breum, kindly gave us some insight into the man behind the imaginative club and festival-ready music. Coming off of massive releases, most notably “Get Static” with our friend BetatraXx, Morten is well on his way to making a name for himself in the US dance music scene.
We had the pleasure of discussing his move to the states, how he wants Daft Punk in the studio, his thoughts on what’s next for dance music in the US, and much much more. Read on after the jump to get the full scoop.
Our good mate BetaTraxx will be releasing a highly anticipated 4-track EP titled Mercury on the famed Big Beat imprint on the 25th of this month. The Los Angeles-based producer has included a couple of collaborations on the release, including “Out Of This World ft. Charles I” and the production that we are premiering for you today, “Get Static;” a joint effort from BetaTraxx and Danish producer Morten Breum that BetaTraxx called “a perfect combination of [their] two sounds.” He went on to explain that “often with collaborations the sounds can be a confused compromise between two producers trying be respectful of each others techniques, but with ‘Get Static’ everything just fell into place; with Morten’s Deep House vibe that he loves infused with my harmonies and mix choices, we just both liked it. Really that simple.” 2013 should be the biggest year for BetaTraxx yet; with a full album and live show in the works, we’re thrilled to see what the new year brings. √+
