The BMKLTSCH RCRDS boss, Mike Mago, has delivered this new collaboration with Dragonette entitled “Outlines.” With support from artists such as The Magician, Tensnake, Josh Wink, and more, Mago has been seeing his international recognition grow with each of his well-received releases. This latest production takes on a stripped down four-on-the-floor vibe with a punchy bassline and synth chords that accent the radio-friendly Dragonette vocals.

We start off this week with our 10th day of the GDD advent calendar, bringing you a the video premiere of Mike Mago‘s new single “Galactic.” Directed by creative duo Ine & Sanne, the black & white film visualizes the haunting tones of the song itself, while shedding light on the soul of its groove with imagery of 2 lovers displaying mirrors and design. The EP is out tomorrow on BMKLTSCH RCRDS, featuring also 2 incredibly groovy remixes from Broke One and Behling & Simpson.
The Galactic EP is out tomorrow, but in the spirit of the season we’ve teamed up with Mike Mago to give you the extended mix version (not included in the EP) TODAY!
Many people know the line “I’ve Got the Power!” from Snap’s 1990 hit “The Power” but the original track the sample was taken from was the 1985 Jocelyn Brown dance hit “Love’s Gonna Get You”. Brown’s track was not only sampled on Snap’s worldwide hit, it was also used on Bizarre Inc’s “I’m Gonna Get You” and on Moby’s classic tune “Go”. Its latest reincarnation comes courtesy of Dutch techno/electro/disco-meister Mike Mago, founder of BMKLTSCH RCRDS. The track was recently featured on The Magician’s Magic Tape Twenty Two. “The Power” is a deep, dark, energetic electro disco stormer that’ll keep you movin’ and shakin’ and handclappin’ till the sun comes up.
Out in May on BMKLTSCH RCRDS.
So we took last week off of The Dirt and we sincerely apologize for it, but what better way to come back this week than with a mouthwatering, user-submitted buttshot and a terrific 11-pack of tunes to get you ready for the weekend! As usual, we have a bit of everything in here, so either take our word for it and download everything via the zip files, or pick and choose which ones sound good to you. Happy Dirt day people.
JACKIN’ TECH HOUSE
• Riva Starr, Major Lazer – Jump (The Martin Brothers Remix) √+ [Beatport]
Out last month on the Snatch! subsidiary label, Snatch! Special, this remix of Jump by Christian and Justin blends the familiar sounds of Snatch! and DirtyBird and is deservedly the first track on the compilation release.
VOCAL INDIE NU DISCO
• Metronomy – Everything Goes My Way (Ewan Pearson Remix) √+ [Beatport]
I first heard this remix on Danny Daze‘s guest mix for Nic Fanciulli‘s Worldwide Sounds podcast. I love the original from Metronomy and Ewan Pearson sticks to the main elements while incorporating a great Nu Disco feel.
TECHNO + HOUSE
• Lazy Ants & Rob Threezy – Chi to Rome (Mike Mago Remix) √+
Set for release next Monday the 19th, the Chi to Rome EP from Lazy Ants and Rob Threezy incorporates some of my favorite genres: Acid House, Chicago House, and Techno. This remix from BMKLTSCH Records head honcho, Mike Mago, delivers a bit of a Chicago House vibe while incorporating the repetition of a solid Techno tune.
• Cut Copy – Sun God (Andrew Weatherall Remix) √+
Cut Copy received a Grammy nod for Best Dance/Electronica Album a couple weeks ago for their fantastic Zonoscope LP, and in celebration they’ve released this nearly 9-minute epic remix from the legendary Brit, Andrew Weatherall. It’s a must have.
• Traveler – Phantom (Original Mix) √+
I just posted on these guys earlier this week, but I felt like I needed to include this track in The Dirt this week because it’s been on such heavy rotation since I downloaded it on Monday. Keep a serious eye out for Traveler in 2012.
Gigamesh is heating up the Winter by bringing back the classic “Disco Inferno” with great taste and extra grooves. It’s just another gem to add to the quality Gigamesh catalog.
Uppermost displays his refined production skills with a harder hitting, Justice type sound in “Positive,” a track of off his latest release, Action.
DRUM ‘N’ BASS
This round of the Dirt calls for a tune from the always dependable Sigma. I find it necessary to have a little up-tempo energy and this easily gets the job done.
I’m sure you could relate on how good it feels to come across a great artist and my latest discovery is Glasgow’s Rustie. With a unique and distinct style, he’s definitely one to look out for, especially with support from BBC’s Annie Mac.
They’re known for their remixes, and it’s to no surprise that Adventure Club has put together a great arrangement of Metric’s “Collect Call.” Having the foundation of great vocals to work with facilitates the production process, but they certainly take it a step further.
Emancipator is one of my favorite producers to chill to and with his laidback, flowing vibe, there’s not much else I could ask for. If you don’t already “like” his Facebook, I suggest you do so as he gave this track out for free today after reaching 30,000 fans!
