The power duo, Du Tonc, made up of Matt Van Schie (of Van She fame) and Mighty Mouse, have announced their sophomore single, “Surging Memories,” today, following up their extolled debut “Darkness,” which my good friend aRod spoke about a few months ago. It’s a melodic, vocal masterpiece, driven by Van Schie’s soothing voice with live guitar, drums, and, of course, synthesizers. Du Tonc seems to be a match made in heaven, and we’re excited for their debut tour here in the US this summer. Listen below and find tour schedule after the jump. √+
This is big! Today we bring you a hat trick worth of goodies from our main man Mighty Mouse. First up is Mighty Mouse’s brand new remix of “Love of a Life” by Keljet (feat. X Ambassadors). The ingredients of this tasty treat include a dash of squelchy disco mixed with a big scoop of throwback house all served up and ready to be devoured on the dance floor. And On The Fruit Records is giving this one away as a free tasting…
Du Tonc = Mighty Mouse + Matt Van Schie (of Van She). It’s a formula that any disco or indie lover can immediately get excited about. Whether it’s Mighty Mouse giving you a lesson in disco diversity on one of his many remixes or Van She blowing your indie mind at a live show, this pairing of musical minds is a fantastic one. Somewhat surprisingly, Du Tonc takes a slightly different approach on their first track together. While their indie & disco influences can be heard on their new track “Darkness”, it’s a poppier sound that Du Tonc seem to have embraced. The result is a crooning & swooning slice of pop music brilliance. Not too light, not too dark. Not too heavy, not too laid back. Chugging along at the perfect pace, “Darkness” is the kind of stunning pop music you can listen to over and over. Well done, boys.
It’s been a journey. Since its inception in the summer of 2010, our longest lasting weekly feature, The Dirt, has brought a staggering amount of free music to the masses, and we’re proud to still be here 100 editions and 100 Dirt Babes in the books. It’s a tough feat to get these tracks together each week (probably why we have some gaps in the mix here and there, apologies), but it’s been an amazing experience sharing music with all of you, which, of course, is the main reason why we’re here.
We wanted to put together something special for the centennial episode, so 11 of our writers have included 2 songs each — one from one of the 99 past Dirts that we’ve posted and any other song that we felt was exceptional enough to make the cut of such an outstanding post. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed putting them together. Here’s to another 100. Continue Reading

The Dirt #99:
How about a spacey, intergalactic disco remix of an 80s smash from Madonna from London’s Mighty Mouse to get your Tuesday going? The remix master has received some great support on this groovy re-work of the acclaimed original — recreating the track in his own vision and giving a warm disco feel to it. Download below and make sure to keep an eye on the Mighty Mouse Soundcloud as this guy’s putting out solid tunes constantly.
This Week in the Mix
We have finally reached the most sought-after day of the week, and what better than receiving a handful of great new mixes fit for the soundtrack of your weekend. October mixes are plentiful as Mighty Mouse, TheFatRat, Aeroplane, and Drop Out Orchestra all deliver their own unique brand of dance music. Also, Crookers address their breakup with an appropriate “Don’t be sad” mix.
With the recent release of his solo debut album ‘Pick Me Up, Sort Me Out, Calm Me Down’, the UK bass aficionado Josh Harvey aka Hervé took the time to chat with me about what went on in the studio and behind the emerald curtain. I was lucky enough to get some incredible insight, breaking down the wide spectrum of electronic music that encompassed its production and the Hervé sound as a whole. As you’ll find out below, we timed this right to be on course with the next album single release (and our personal favorite) ‘Night Turns Into Day.’ Read on, and you might just get a free remix if you’re lucky….

Tonight, things are leaned out, grimey and late night. We’ve scoured the sonic landscape for these picks that have been taking us over the edge and into the abyss lately. Embrace your inner afterparty weirdo. Go deep. Get ‘em into you.
What can we say about Mighty Mouse that we haven’t already? The dude is a legend when it comes to injecting some positive energy into his remixes, like this latest one he just sent over for Nashville Indie Electronic act, Future Unlimited. The original track, “Golden,” found itself on a 5 track EP from the Tennessee duo back in March, and our pal Mighty Mouse did some digging to spice it up — keeping the golden vocals while adding in some dancey piano and a Todd Terje-esque synth. A must grab from MM. √+ Continue Reading
