Matthew Dear will be premiering the LIVE show for his burgeoning Audion project next Saturday, February 22nd at El Rey Theater here in Los Angeles. From what we understand, this is going to be one hell of a spectacle, with the brains behind Vita Motus (the visual design company responsible for Amon Tobin’s ISAM performance) creating a one-of-a-kind experience matching the sounds of Audion with state of the art lighting, which Dear describes as “a living, breathing fusion of leftfield techno, glowing LED lights and dazzling sound-reactive visuals that’s at turns disorienting, beautiful, and terrifying.”

SOUNDS AWESOME RIGHT? Enter to win a pair of tickets to the show below. Winner will be announced next week. Continue Reading

What could go wrong with a collaboration between Montreal Technohead, Tiga, and American electronic Pop producer, Matthew Dear? Absolutely nothing. The new single from Tiga co-produced with the Texan musician is a perfect concoction of influences; taking inspiration from 80s TV shows while paying respect to the underground sounds of Detroit. Tiga handpicked his remixes for the release on December 17th, including a Big Room remix from Jacques Lu Cont and a more minimal, hypnotic take from German duo, Ame. Stream “Plush” below. √+

Ghostly‘s Matthew Dear will be releasing his 4th studio album, Beams, worldwide on August 27th, and while we wait for the 11-track full length recorded in Dear’s home studio, we receive a gift in the form of a Poolside remix of the single, “Her Fantasy,” which sits #1 in the tracklist of the album. As with many Poolside jams, this remix of “Her Fantasy” is mellow, smoothly vocal, and laden with tropical, wooden percussion. Dig it. Continue Reading

Ghostly co-founder and American producer, Matthew Dear, has just announced a full European tour this morning, suited with a full live band in support of his most recent Headcage EP as well as his upcoming full length, Beams, due out this summer. Straying from the darker, Detroit Techno roots that we’ve heard from Dear in the past, the productions on Headcage (and presumably Beams) are more in the vein of an indie, post-LCD Soundsystem vibe, and the reviews from Dear’s shows at SxSW in Austin and the Bowery Ballroom in NYC leave much room for excitement about this 10-date European jaunt.
