Luca Venezia is taking some time off his Drop The Lime project to focus on what he calls “New Gotham House” under his longtime side project moniker, Curses. He’s hitting the ground running with an unbelievable new 2-track EP due out on Marble June 24th, featuring “So Good” as well as a massive collaboration with Surkin, Para One, and Canblaster titled “Deep In The Night.” Preview “So Good” below and have a listen to the √+ guest mix that Luca put together for big time Curses supporters, Skream & Benga.

Para One is a busy dude with many musical talents: from having dipped in the honey pot of the rap scene a variety of times (his work with French group TTC, production creds on A$AP Rocky’s “Wild For The Night”) to being a part of his own label (Marble, with Teki Latex and Bobmo). After a well-regarded release of his track “Passion” last year, Para One is back with a bigger, badder version thanks to the vocal talents of none other than Cam’Ron. As a sidenote, I can’t write or think about Cam’Ron without seeing this picture in my head, so here. #killuh

I spoke to Para One yesterday just before his trek to the US to tour starting in Miami, where I’m sure inevitably we’ll run into each other. Another sidenote, a definite party to check out that we’ll be at and Para One will be playing at is Lil Death’s NYC vs Paris this Friday. So read on about what Para One had to say after the jump, and as for myself I hope to see many of you out and about!

The new single from Usher has immersed itself completely in the dance music community in the past few weeks, with a staggering 9 acclaimed producers remixing the original for RCA. Today, 3 producers from Europe that you wouldn’t really expect to hop on board an Usher track have done just that; with Marble‘s Surkin, Made to Play‘s Oliver $, and the French supergroup, Club Cheval, all trying their hand at the commercial release. Stream all 3 of them and find out which one is my favorite below. Continue Reading

When French label Institubes bit the dust in March of last year, Marble was birthed at the behest of Surkin, Bobmo, and Para One. A little over a year old now and the imprint has put out some of the most forward thinking releases in dance music. But perhaps the crown jewel is label boss Para One’s album ‘Passion’, which dropped today. Rumors of ‘album of the year’ are already swirling, just as they should be. It’s simply that good. The product is an amalgamation of all your favorite genres from early hip hop to techno, but it has timeless aspect to it that is something so foreign today where tracks have a shelf-life of a few weeks. You can purchase the album on iTunes.

The infamous Marble co-owner, Para One, just unleashed his newest sounds with the release of his new EP, Mother.  The EP’s title track delivers those specific elements that you have come to expect from Para One; Electro cuts fused with carefully sequenced percussion, unexpectedly brilliant sudden effects and a strong digital bite.  The Mr. Oizo remix slows things down but turns the dark and dirty up, adding a new, welcomed spin to the original.  Finally, Compute (featuring Surkin) paints a dark digital portrait with Electro elements, well-placed samples, intricate percussion and brilliant change-ups that leave you screaming for more.

Much Love,

Monday saw the release of a new EP from Bobmo & Surkin‘s High Powered Boys side-project. The follow up to ‘Udon’ and ‘Work’ arrives in the form of a double A-side called ‘Girly/Crash’, dropped via their new Marble imprint with Para One.

‘Girly’ thumps on a big system, while ‘Crash’ grows with every play. You can certainly hear the influence of UK Garage on the percussion throughout. Great pair of tunes:

In March it was announced that French Electro imprint Institubes, was to be disbanded, citing financial problems after eight years of sterling service to the underground electronic music scene. In bittersweet conjunction with the sad news, came another announcement: that the new Marble label headed by Para One, Surkin and Bobmo was to continue delivering tasty French electro in Institubes’ absence. This week we caught up with Jean-Baptiste de Laubier aka Para One, for an exclusive insight into the Marble imprint and what it has in store for the EDM community.

It all kicks off after the jump…

After the shocking announcement last month that electronic French label Institubes decided to pull out of the game all together, fans worldwide were left scratching their heads wondering if and when a rebound would come. Thankfully, Para One, Surkin, and Bobmo secretly joined forces and launched a new label called ‘Marble‘. They release their first EP today under the name ‘Marble Players’. Undeniably French, they push the boundaries of dance music, as both tracks are serious forward-thinking analog driven bass tunes, and I can affirmatively say that ‘Marble Anthem’ is one of the best tracks I’ve come across this year. Purchase the EP on iTunes.

MARBLE
The new French electro label was started in response to the recently disbanded Institubes imprint. A statement from Para One’s manager read:
“Even though the demise of Institubes may come as a shock to the electronic music world, when Para decided to team up with the others to form Marble there was no doubt in my mind and theirs that this is going to be a huge success. It will continue to carry the French electronic sound that is already gaining worldwide attention.”

Amen to that. Here’s a 3 minute mix of Marble’s forthcoming material, including new tunes from Para One, Surkin, Das Glow, Myd, Canblaster, and Bobmo:
