This Saturday night in London, Scandalism + MYLO are coming together for “Ecstacy, Passion, and Pain,” a night full of nu-and-old-disco at the legendary Scala nightclub in Kings Cross. This extravaganza features performances from MYLO, Lindstrom, Aeroplane, Mighty Mouse, and the Parisian sensation Brodinski. With four rooms of music, this is sure to be one of the best events of the year.

LDN The Together Winter Music Festival is set to take place in London at the end of next month, with Alexandra Palace playing host to two mammoth nights of EDM. Curated by Lock n Load (the guys behind South-West Four), the festival has been split down the middle: Friday for Bass culture, and Saturday for house and electro. The lineup for each day is huge, with Chase & Status headlining the Friday, and Eric Prydz playing his last EPIC show of the year on the Saturday, here’s a full rundown:

London based dirty dancers we’ve got some exciting news: After a £1million facelift, Brixton’s legendary venue formerly known as The Fridge is re-opening, this time as Electric Brixton. The club launches on Saturday 24th September, with sets from Felix Da Housecat, DJ Hell, Hannah Holland, JoJo De Freq, Tom Starr, and Keith & Supabeatz. Early birds have already gone on sale and you can grab those here.
Over the coming months Electric Brixton will be hosting a weekly party from the Get Loaded brand, as well as shows from M.A.N.D.Y, Japanese Popstars, Gilles Peterson, Stanton Warriors, and Kissy Sell Out.

August bank holiday weekend is always a highlight in a music savvy Londoner’s diary. It’s the one weekend in the summer where the capital takes its partying to new levels with Notting Hill Carnival, and a host of other events scattered around the city. For South-West London, the weekend is now known for the annual SW4 Festival, an integral massive in the dance music calendar boasting an impressive lineup across two days. We were there last Sunday to check it out.

On Saturday, Smirnoff’s hotly anticipated Sensation event rolled into London for an unparalleled night of mischief in white. The setup – which drew together 22 fountains, 13 laser systems, 100 different pyrotechnic effects and 16 6-meter wide jellyfish – was like nothing we’ve ever seen. Following on from last week’s chat with the man behind it all, creative director Duncan Stutterheim, one thing he said resonated with me: “the show is close to perfection”. I’ll be the first to admit that the statement sounded a little arrogant initially, but after experiencing Saturday, I find myself in agreement.
The show was beautifully executed, and no expense was spared as the London crowd piled into the O2 Arena to be treated to a spectacle that incorporated performance art, installations, new technologies, and music from some of the world’s finest DJs. The DJs performed from a rotating booth in the centre of the dance floor, while legions of clubbers hailed them like gods dressed head to toe in white. This was a clubbing experience like no other.
The most enjoyable set on the night came from Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli, who really set the standard with some awesome techno and house, before Fedde Le Grand and Martin Solveig took the party to the next level with some huge big-room anthems. All DJs were really well received, but the night was less about the music than it was about the experience and overall staging of the event which was a total sensory overload. We had a great time, and would like to thank the Smirnoff team for their awesome hospitality.
On a night out, it’s always nice to hear praise for the work we do here at Gotta Dance Dirty, and when that praise comes from a world renowned DJ it’s even more flattering and lets us know that we must be doing something right. This weekend, Smirnoff are set to bring the legendary Sensation event to the UK for the very first time. Taking place on Saturday night at London’s sold out O2 Arena inside the Millenium Dome, Smirnoff presents Sensation: The Ocean of White. Resident Mr.White will be joined by a stacked lineup that includes Erick E, Sander van Doorn, Fedde Le Grand, Martin Solveig, Joris Voorn & Nic Fanciulli, while the production element promises to be spectacular and like no other.

On Sunday we were treated to a fantastic gig from Moby as London’s month long iTunes Festival drew to a close. Camden’s Roundhouse was packed to the rafters with special guests and competition winners being treated to a really intimate show that lasted almost 2 hours. Moby ripped through a set that included hits ‘Natural Blues’, ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’, ‘Honey’, and the mighty ‘Porcelain’, while also showcasing a handful tracks from his new Destroyed record such as ‘Be The One’, ‘Sevastopol’, and ‘Lie Down In Darkness’. If you haven’t already heard Destroyed, I think it’s his most impressive work since 2002′s 18 album and one of the best records I’ve heard this year.
Sunday proved not only that Moby’s one of the most prolific songwriters and electronic producers of our age, but also that unlike so many musicians, his live shows are even more monumental than his studio work – His band were really tight, and the female vocalist who joined him had a sensational voice. Overall a great gig to be at, and you can stream the whole thing for free from iTunes here.

Today saw the release of Zulu X-Ray, the latest EP from GDD homies Zedex (formerly ZX). The young British house duo have put out a stormer of a record, featuring guest vocals from Brooklyn based label-mate Sam Wilkes. This week we caught up with Jamie Graham and James Trayford of Zedex to talk about their new release, recent name changes, and dancing dirty. Here’s how it played out…
GDD: Thanks for taking the time to chat guys. So starting from the top, how did ZEDEX come about?
James Trayford: We were at school in Peterborough together, but while there we’d both been playing in this electro-rock band called Cut This City, without much success. As our influences changed we started a side project, quickly becoming our main project, called ZX.
GDD: Why the recent name change from ZX to ZEDEX though?
Jamie Graham: People were complaining that they couldn’t find our stuff so we decided to make it more search engine-friendly. Zedex is way easier to google than the two letters of ZX…
JT: …plus we’re not as big as the games console or Citroen car yet!
GDD: What influenced your sound starting up, and who influences you now?
JT: We’d always been aware of the original french house stars, Bangalter, Modjo et al. , but it wasn’t really until 2007 with bands like Bag Raiders, Cut Copy, Van She coming out of Australia and the breakthrough of Justice and the Ed-Banger guys from France that we really got excited about electronic music. Fenech Soler, who come from a village near us were the only electro band to pretty much ever come from this area and supported us right from the start, letting us remix their track ‘LA Love’. They were pretty good mentors early on I guess. We’ve got a pretty wide range of musical influences spanning to rock bands like The Mars Volta and Deftones, or more experimental stuff like Brian Eno, and Danny Elfman.
