Not too many producers have a remix resume like Stuart Price. Whether it’s under his given name or his Jacques Lu Cont/Thin White Duke/Paper Faces monikers (to name a few), Mr. Price has put together some of dance music’s best remixes over the last 15+ years. His stretch of remixes in 2002 to 2003 when he remixed Felix da Housecat, The Faint & Madonna b2b2b has to be considered one of the greatest ever. Over a decade after that unparalleled stretch, he still has the magic touch delivering another finely crafted remix of London Grammar’s “If You Wait” under his Jacques Lu Cont alias. In classic JLC style, he reels you in with pulsating beats & soaring vocals then elevates the energy levels for a heart racing, heart melting finish.
Euphoria levels: HIGH.
It’s been two years since Chi Duly‘s Balloons of Haus, the remix album that did victory laps around the internet with a cosign from The Weeknd himself. Since then, this Brooklyn-based artist has maintained a steady flow of crowd favorites, while cultivating his original sound. With an arsenal of remixes on deck, album co-production credits on the upcoming Shadows on Stars project, and a follow up to Balloons of Haus due late summer, he’s ready to take his career to new heights.
In celebration of Wacks Records‘ inaugural release, a split single from Chi Duly and Aloha, “Never Give Up/Soul Jam,” coming on Tuesday, July 8th, Chi Duly has put together a 22-track guest mix that bridges deep house with rap and R&B, making for a cool house party vibe. Additionally, he’s included two previously unreleased tracks for exclusive downloads (DL in tracklist after the jump), so be sure to grab those after enjoying the mix.
Our very own aRod returns with another seasonal mix – FallGaze 2013. Whether it’s warm indie/disco sounds to fit the feel of the Indian Summer or darker, sexier deep house/minimal sounds to go with the cooler, moody feel of Autumn, this mix will fit whatever vibe you’re feelin’. The track list includes originals from Nadia Ksaiba, Hot Natured, LUXRY & Daniel Avery plus remixes by Diamond Cut, Grafton Primary, GRUM, Jonas Rathsman, PIXELATED and many more. Extra special shout out goes to the artists/labels/management who helped out with a few exclusives (Kaytranada’s remix of “Perfect Form” by Cyril Hahn and Joe Goddard’s remix of “Everything You Never Had” by Breach).
LISTEN. SHARE. ENJOY.
Hospital Records boss, High Contrast, has a knack for adding his uplifting Drum N Bass flair to songs you’d never expect. The most recent example of his aptitude shines is his forthcoming remix for popular UK trio, London Grammar, which will be released as part of the Strong EP on September 1st. High Contrast clings to London Grammar vocalist Hannah’s Florence Welch-like voice while upping the tempo and adding in soaring crescendos of percussion. If you haven’t, make sure to go back and have a listen to some of High Contrast’s older remixes like those for Adele or Calvin Harris. Nostalgiaaaa.
London Grammar is a fantastic, buzzing band out of, you guessed it, London. Hannah, Daniel, and Dot unveiled their debut original, “Hey Now,” a couple months back on their Soundcloud, and the track has already hit over an impressive 260K listens. Not too shabby for an introductory tune. The soothing vocals of Hannah are unbelievable — a true talent mixed with intellectual and appropriate lyrics. Today, the sophomore track, “Metal & Dust,” has been announced, with a release date of February 25th on Metal & Dust Recordings. If you’re looking for soft, downtempo, easy-listening, look no further than London Grammar. √+
