A couple of years ago, some friends took me to the famed weekly party, Low End Theory, to see one of the LA beat scene’s emerging artists, Astronautica. Although it was a while back, I still vividly remember her fantastic set, and it was this memory that spurred me to enlist her for our guest mix series. Since dropping her vibey Waikiki EP on Alpha Pup a few months ago, she’s been quiet on the release front, but she’s been staying busy with studio sessions in between tour dates. Now Astronautica delivers a smooth and eclectic mix of jams to help you get through the day in a positive way. If you’re around in LA this Friday, catch her live at The Do LaB event with Dimond Saints!

It doesn’t seem like long ago the veiled producer Zhu surfaced on the web (4 months ago to be exact) and had the net buzzing about his “Moves Like Ms. Jackson” remix, but a lot has been accomplished since then. With four more originals added to his roster, including his recent hit (named Essential New Tune by Pete Tong) titled, “ Faded.” Now, though, the time has come for others to take on the fruits of his labor as official remixes begin to take shape on SoundCloud. It’s The Dirt #141 brought to you by Steven N. Ewald + aRod. It’s a brand new year and we’re taking things up a notch. We’ve got a 12-pack of freebies from big hitters like Treasure Fingers & The Knocks, Chromeo, Salva, Dillon Francis feat. TEED and the latest French Express release from Lane 8. Plus plenty of other freshness from our GDD mates Traveler, a blissed out Chris Jylkke remix of a Lana del Rey “classic” & plenty of straight up HOUSE MUSIC to kick this year into gear. Strap in for this week’s wild ride…
It was surprising to hear this Lana Del Rey song so much in sets lately from the likes of Tiesto and Kaskade, but then again not really. And I can’t say I was even that excited to click play on another LDR remix. But Serge Devant went for a more hypnotic and sexy deep house remix to the original, and it’s much unlike any rendition out there. Stripping away the track to it’s bare essentials, then pitching Lana’s voice, and sampling only what he needs to complete the track in proper remix manner, makes this track interesting to me. Be sure to check back and subscribe to his Soundcloud channel to be on top of when this get’s released as a free download.
The haunting and melodic vocals of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” has seen countless remixes even still since last year, and we have managed to find another gem among the masses. UK up-and-comer Maff Boothroyd has just released his special rework for FREE on his soundcloud, after quickly reaching his ’1000 listens’ goal. His powerful deep basslines and garage house appeal landed him with our GDD supported friends Maison Records and we’ve been playing out many of their tracks in our sets across the pond. Grab these baby below and be on the look out for more!

That’s right, the Waves ≠ Raves compilation is back. Grab a cocktail with Poseidon and let these tropical and smooth selections warm your soul.
“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.”

Long weekend? I know my ears are still ringing after a few nights of open bar and noisy monitors DJing inside of a freakin’ gondola, so this GDD™ exclusive World premiere is exactly what I need right now. Combine the soothing vocals of Brooklyn-based diva Lana Del Rey’s smash hit ‘Video Games’ with Montreal’s Grandtheft‘s knack for turning a song on its head and into a groovy jam and we have lift off. If you remember Grandtheft’s take on The Weeknd’s ‘Rolling Stone’ from a few months back then you’ll be jumping out of your seat to get this one.
