After the chaos, destruction and delays that the east coast experienced with Sandy, I wanted to reminisce about the fantastic events I saw before the storm and hope that, with power restored and aid dispatched, all these great events can continue. Lets all cross our fingers that this Nor’easter headed our way doesn’t worsen the situation!

Our good pal 12th Planet did an unbelievably impressive 29 shows in 30 days this year for The End Is Near Tour here in North America. Every day, the bus took him and his pals (Flinch, Kastle, Kill The Noise, Crizzly) around the country, stopping in cities across the continent to bring bass music to the masses. Luckily, director and producer Brandon Parker was aboard the bus — capturing every wild, boring, happy, and sad moment of the month long ride — and today 12th Planet has released the mini documentary. You’d think that 30 days cut down to 10 minutes would be a difficult feat, and you’d be right, but this documentary perfectly grasps the vibe and emotion of this tour. Watch it above and check out the upcoming tour dates for 12th (including his set at Avalon this Friday) after the jump. Continue Reading

It’s March and there is a great deal to be excited about; Miami, trade deadlines, March Madness and Pierce Fulton’s March 2012 mix! Pierce’s newest mix is a high-octane thrill ride that just oozes energy. With every transitions, Pierce is able to melodically build you up and then drop you into a huge dirty groove.

It’s always a treat to see an artist’s first performance in the city in which you reside and last night, Los Angeles welcomed Knife Party with open arms. From beginning to end, it was a bass-heavy and high energy affair, filled with essential tunes and excellent DJing. Read on after the jump for the full review!
We love you, Dillon Francis.
A consummate gentleman and production wonderchild alike, Dillon has taken the raw concepts of moombahton and luvstep in the last year and distilled them down into the perfectly polished little gems we know and love today. His latest EP on Skrillex’s label OWSLA is no exception, and we’ve got a first listen of it, with an exclusive download of his new I.D.G.A.F.O.S. 2.0.
Los Angeles has been taken over by the Mothership this week, and this Friday it lands @ Avalon for whats set to be one of the most insane nights to date (I’m leaving the word “insane” open-ended). Yes, this week CONTROL plays host to the 4th stop on the LA invasion of Skrillex, with powerful support from Kill The Noise and Huoratron. PRE-SALES HAVE SOLD OUT, so if you even want a shred of a chance of getting in you have to ARRIVE EARLY.
Due to the fact, we will have no discount guest list this week (sorry, it’s out of our hands). Doors will open at 9PM and all available tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis – GA will line up on the right side per usual.

Not only is Miami-based DJ Craze a master of turntablism (he’s the only solo DJ to win 3 consecutive DMC Championships), but he has the producer and labelhead roles down as well. He’s teamed up with Kill The Noise in the past couple years to launch the rapidly growing label, Slow Roast Records, where artists such as Codes, Klever, Señor Stereo, and, of course, the labelheads have released top notch EPs. Most recently, Craze released his latest EP, Dance Alone, on August 30th, and he put together a rockin’ promo mix and music video to go along with it. Grab the mix as well as Codes’ remix and head over to Beatport to pick up the entire EP.

I can’t believe the weekend is here again already! As always, CONTROL is set with a stacked double-headliner night tomorrow with Kill The Noise and Jesse Rose each throwing down an hour and a half set. After seeing the live interview that the Avalon did with Kill The Noise on Twitter yesterday, I’m pretty excited to hear some brand new heat from the Los Angeles producer. And of course, it’s always a pleasure to hear some Made To Play jams from the legendary Jesse Rose.
