Not too many producers have a remix resume like Stuart Price. Whether it’s under his given name or his Jacques Lu Cont/Thin White Duke/Paper Faces monikers (to name a few), Mr. Price has put together some of dance music’s best remixes over the last 15+ years. His stretch of remixes in 2002 to 2003 when he remixed Felix da Housecat, The Faint & Madonna b2b2b has to be considered one of the greatest ever. Over a decade after that unparalleled stretch, he still has the magic touch delivering another finely crafted remix of London Grammar’s “If You Wait” under his Jacques Lu Cont alias. In classic JLC style, he reels you in with pulsating beats & soaring vocals then elevates the energy levels for a heart racing, heart melting finish.
With one of the coolest A-sides (“The Music”) & AA-sides (“Pleasure Moon”) from the last year under his belt, along with being the man behind one of the all time best space disco opuses (“Take Em Up” by Shit Robot), it comes to no surprise that Marcus Marr (once again) delivers the goods. This time around he takes on “Safe With You” by Alex Metric & Jacques Lu Cont (one of the top tunes of 2013) and delivers a bassline that could liquify steel. Throw in some high-energy percussion and you’ve got yourself a sweaty + intense dance floor workout. Marcus Marr does it again… Continue Reading
Alex Metric continues to impress with a new remix of Empire of the Sun revealed today via his Soundcloud. Following up a successful pair of releases including his collaboration with Jacques Lu Cont titled “Safe With You” and a top remix for Foals‘ “Bad Habit,” Metric hits us with a feel-good remix of “DNA,” bringing me back to a 2008/2009 Indie Dance era. Not sure if this is official or not, but it should be. √+
What could go wrong with a collaboration between Montreal Technohead, Tiga, and American electronic Pop producer, Matthew Dear? Absolutely nothing. The new single from Tiga co-produced with the Texan musician is a perfect concoction of influences; taking inspiration from 80s TV shows while paying respect to the underground sounds of Detroit. Tiga handpicked his remixes for the release on December 17th, including a Big Room remix from Jacques Lu Cont and a more minimal, hypnotic take from German duo, Ame. Stream “Plush” below. √+
Emerging from what seemed like a production hibernation, the UK electronic wizard Jacques Lu Cont is back on the circuit with a new 3-track EP he gave away to his fans along with a recent debut Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. The newest track ‘Underground’ is accompanied by a new music video, depicting the high energy of the tune in what makes you literally feel like you’re strapped to the front of a train. So take a ride with Jacques Lu Cont, and grab the track below!
I am quite pleased that Stuart Price is back in a big way so far in 2012. Mr. Price, aka Jacques Lu Cont (also doing business as Thin White Duke, Paper Faces, Les Rythmes Digitales, et al) has written/produced songs for some of the biggest names in dance music (Madonna, New Order, Scissor Sisters, Kylie Minogue, The Killers) as well as being responsible for some of the greatest dance remixes of ALL TIME (namely these three dancefloor masterpieces by Missy Elliott, Madonna & Felix da Housecat).
