Hard to believe that the multi-city festival known as Electric Daisy Carnival is about to commence this week in New York City, and GDD™ is proud to be teaming up with our friends at Insomniac to book out the Wide Awake Art Car stage this Friday, May 17th. We’ve taken a specific approach to curating the lineup for this event, bringing in a deeper/techier vibe to showcase up and coming acts from New York and beyond, including acts like M A N I K, Meech, Rynecologist, and our good friend Kromo, who has put together a mix that accurately portrays the sound you’ll hear from the Funktion One system this Friday. It’s been fairly obvious for some time now, with the announcement of a EDC London, the presence of a HARD branded stage at EDC Las Vegas, and various other recent signals, but it seems the wedding between LA-based Insomniac Events and Live Nation is on the verge of being made official.

Kudos to Pasquale Rotella for doing things his way and getting to this point, and here’s hoping this only means bigger and better things for the famed events put on by Insomniac around the globe.

Via the LA Times:

Concert and ticketing giant Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is nearing a deal to acquire a stake in the events company that puts on the Electric Daisy Carnival dance music festival, a person with knowledge of the matter confirmed.

Beverly Hills-based Live Nation would purchase a roughly 50% interest in Insomniac Events. The Los Angeles company produces electronic dance music concerts at venues across Southern California and elsewhere. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported news of the pending sale, said Live Nation is paying $50 million for the stake in Insomniac.

Since a new year is one of the best excuses for celebration, many tend to make their plans far in advance. However, my optimism and a little procrastination got the best of me, and before I knew it, I was scrambling to solidify my plans in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve. Luckily, everything fell into place and I was ecstatic to begin 2013 at Insomniac‘s White Wonderland at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Last minute plans certainly don’t always work out as great as they did for my New Year’s Eve. Read how it all went down after the jump…

LA! Where will you be on New Years Eve?

Sure there are plenty of goings on around the area, but GDD would like to personally suggest the place to be as we ring in 2013. Insomniac has teamed up with Exchange in downtown LA to bring you a monumental night of music thats sure to go til the break of dawn. In the main room (top floor), techno legends Sasha and Adam Beyer will be in control of the decks, while deeper heavyweights Art Department and Damian Lazarus will be holding down Room 2 (bottom floor). You can fist pump your life away any other night – we highly recommend educating yourself with some of the best in electronic music as we ring in the new year.
