We’ve teamed up with our friends at Rolling Tuff and Solé Bicycles for an all-day event tomorrow from 1PM-2AM on Lincoln Blvd. in Venice, CA. The Venice Music Crawl features a number of venues on the west side, and we’ll be holding it down at RG Club with sets throughout the day from Lauren Lane, Steffi Graf, Human Life, and many more.
The event is free until 10PM, so come on by and join us. Find more information here.
Another week brings you another set of 10 free downloads from us at GDD, but this time around it’s the always tasteful aRod, and myself, Toks, on Dirt duty for our 126th edition. As per usual, we have a little something for everyone, so head after the jump to grab some quality music to compliment your weekend – we know you’ll need it.
This Thursday, Santa Monica gets taken to the deep end as our familiars over at RollingTUFF take over our VERSUS party! The bottomless basslines will be led by Defected representative and LA’s own Human Life, along with our own wonderboy Troy Kurtz. Warming up the speakers will be directed by Young Diamond and Chemical Ali. If you lean toward the deeper side of house music, this is an intimate gathering you truly do NOT want to miss. This event will reach capacity – so please RSVP and arrive early to guarantee entry
Parisien house producer Housquare has just unleashed his new ‘Chicago EP’ via On The Fruit Records. The six track release is balanced nicely with remixes from Evil Nine and Broke One, but it’s the Human Life remix of title track ‘Chicago’ that really takes the cake. The LA trio turn the Chicago House original into a heady 303-driven acid binge. Cheers to our friends over at Stoney Roads for putting us on to this killer tune:
Since releasing ‘Wherever We Are’ last month, Los Angeles trio Human Life have been hitting it hard both in the studio and on the road. They’ve recently returned to the US after an extensive European tour and are set to release new material via Alan Braxe‘s Vulture label early on in the new year. In the meantime, they’ve been kind enough share their Winter 2011 mix with us for an exclusive GDD™ Premiere:

Hope you kids are recovered from another weekend of summer mayhem. This week’s been a pretty nutty seven days for electronic music, so I figured I’d kick off with a few heaters for y’all – try saying that with a British accent while trying to keep a straight face…
First up, GDD faves Dada Life have gone and produced a wicked new remix of Tim Berg, the man who also goes by the name of Avicii. Fuelled by champagne and bananas, the Swedish duo have given the original track a massive kick up the ass with distorted vox and heavy synthlines. Chin chin:
Signed with both Fool’s Gold and Modular, Bag Raiders seem to be doing rather well for themselves at the moment. Their Big Fun EP is still getting a grip of airplay and their debut album is set to hit the shelves on October 1. Until then, let the new Harvard Bass remix of ‘Way Back Home’ tide you over. Massive fan of this track; to case the original, head over to aRod’s post from a few weeks back – easy link.
I’ve been keeping an eye on Human Life who’ve been putting out some real tuneage lately. The LA based indie-disco trio will be playing at Pacific Fest in Costa Mesa on September 4th alongside Alan Braxe, Steve Aoki, and GDD’s own Dr. Schlongo & ///Bones among others, so head down to the OC and party with us on Labor Day weekend – We’ll hook you up with more info on that later. Back to Human Life though, they’ve got an EP set to drop at the beginning of November featuring remixes from Grum, Mintel Rose and Boston duo Nightriders. They’re currently giving away the B-side ‘Italo Crimewave’ for free via their soundcloud:
Last and by no means least, Mowgli‘s just unleashed a solid seven minute fidget rendition of LA Riots ‘Bombah’. Again, a huge fan of this track; if you dig it, head on over to Beatport to show Mowgli and LA Riots some love and support by buying the track in full 320 –Beatport link

After the success of his ‘I Remember’ remix last year, and also the inevitable carnage that Nero‘s trancey dubstep tunes strike up, it’s pretty unsurprising that Caspa‘s come back for a second summer dub anthem this time remixing Swedish House Mafia‘s One:
• Swedish House Mafia – One (Congorock remix)(link removed by request)
After blindly swearing never to listen to Congorock‘s Babylon again, I find myself listening to this gem, it sees the original slowed down and turned ever more Dutch.
Second up; citing their influences from both French and Chicago House scenes, Human Life have just dropped their ‘In It Together’ EP which is out on LIFEX. It’s already garnering the Angelenos a lot of attention, getting remixed byKris Menace&Acid Girls, but the freshest picks for me come from two British acts:
If you’re big into this French Filter track then stay tuned for Human Life’s collab with Alan Braxe which is set to drop later this year on Vulture
And lastly, Toddla T has been kicking up a lot of heat over the past few months since signing with Ninja Tune. Sky Surfin’ is a frantic journey of two-step electro and dancehall, making it ideal for the summer and impossible not to jam to:
Los Angeles based electro three piece Human Life, have just dropped their first release on the French label Boxon Records, entitled ‘We Won’t Stop’. I got my mits on this track a while back, but have finally got it approved for posting, which is nice because I predict this to be a huge Spring banger. 2010 looks to be a big year for Human Life, with releases in the pipeline on Alan Braxe‘s Vulture label, as well as the release of the In It Together EP, which features remixes from Acid Girls, Norwegian Disco-House outfit: Pelifics, and BBC Radio 1‘s Andy George & Jaymo.
What’s up durrrty dancers?! This may seem a bit like deja vu but allow me to introduce myself as the latest addition to the GDD fam. My name’s Freddie, I’m from London, UK and currently living in LA, so I’m going to be repping (Great) Britain – which is no easy task. Without further ado, here are a few tunes that I’m all about right now…
